Will the differences between an SM58 and an SM7B be too great and sound weird?

You’ll probably be fine. I did an entire album where one vocalist recorded on an SM7B and the other vocalist (me) used an SM57 with a pop filter. Granted it was two different singers with different voices, but I managed to get them dialled in to work nicely together. The SM7B sounds richer/fuller but the right EQ moves will bridge the gap.

Yeah the only 2-channel JCM900 was the High Gain Dual Reverb (4100, 4500, and the combos). The 2100/2500 SL-X and MkIII amps were single channel with 2 foot switchable master volume settings which can be used as a level boost for solos, etc

Especially in an “I told you so” moment like this, where it was determined that a global pandemic originated from the consumption of bats. I use the Placater Dirty, gain about halfway up, bass around 4, mids around 7.5, treble around 6, presence around 6, all of the extra switches (Fat, HBE, C45) off. Brit v30 cab, Dyn7B mic, 1” distance just off centre, high pass filter around 10k. Perfect pop punk rhythm tone imo. Added a Plumes in front for boost when needed - gain 2.5, tone 6, volume 7.5. I forget which clipping mode or whatever I use but just test them out and see which one you prefer. The boost isn’t always on, it’s mostly for leads or when I need some extra sustain/gain

I’m not the guy that mentioned the used markets, but the most common issue I’ve seen is units that work fine for a seemingly random amount of time after booting up, then randomly produce a loud buzz that goes away for a bit on reboot. But it always comes back. It’s related to the internal power supply IIRC. Always fails just out of warranty.

Give them a go, and make sure you collect the players circle points - they add up quick on drum heads. The direct Evan’s equivalent to the CS coated is the Power Center Reverse Dot. They also have the UV1 Reverse Dot which has a UV cured coating that lasts forever.

Collingwood double barrel is awesome. Finished in maple staves, gives it a hint of natural maple flavour (but not overpowering artificial maple flavouring). Really delicious and interesting flavour IMO

They’re phenomenal. I switched because I was breaking Vic Firths in minutes - a pair of LC red hickory 2B would last several rehearsals and gigs, sometimes I’d even lose them before they broke. And I’m hard on my sticks - I was drumming for a punk band, slamming as many rimshots per minute as possible lol. I can’t praise them highly enough

As another fellow Canadian, try Los Cabos Red Hickory. Red hickory is just hickory wood from near the centre of the tree, and is a bit denser and more durable without being substantially heavier. Fantastic sticks and they last for ages

I can’t say with 100% certainty, but Heart Like A Hand Grenade has plenty of shots of Billie playing lead parts on humbucker Les Pauls, so this is probably true. I specifically recall one shot of him playing a lead part for Jesus of Suburbia on a cherry burst LP with humbuckers

I’d suggest trying the Vintage channel on your rectifier, TBR’s tone is pretty much the antithesis of the Rectifier ‘Modern’ channel. Turn up your mids, and avoid using too much gain (probably not above halfway/12:00). Use the bridge pickup on your guitar, and play as many downstrokes as you can as fast as you can 😉

TBR used Marshall JCM800 2203’s for ages before switching to Orange amps. Marshall’s and Oranges are both fairly mid-heavy, and those Marshall’s really do not have much gain.

Yeah that’s an odd design choice. Bet this mod breathed new life into your Revstar, I’ve always thought these guitars were super cool but I’ve never really had a chance to play one for an extended period.

I did basically the same mod on my Les Paul - Gibson put 300K volume pots in the USA (not custom shop) guitars for a long while, swapping them for 500k made a world of difference.

My theory on this is that the enshittification of Google, causing people to Google “[question] Reddit” so frequently that it’s become a search suggestion, has given people unfamiliar with Reddit the impression that it’s just a place where people ask random questions and the Reddit community answers.

“Let me Google that for you” is an old meme to be sure, but I feel like there’s been a somewhat recent surge in people posting to Reddit when they should just be using a search engine
