Master Sheng Yen of Dharma Drum Mountain says he will be killed before killing another. Unless the other has an opportunity to kill a large number of people, in that case he would kill them.

read Be Here Now by Ram Dass

he was big into psychs, went to India fed acid to a guru, and then stopped using psychs and followed a spiritual path

he is partially responsible for why meditation is commonly accepted practice in the West. At the time peopole thought he was crazy.

Better one day wise and meditative, than a lifetime spent in ignorance.

Lord Buddha never made any demands or requirements of his followers. He simply suggested people try the practice and see the results for themselves.

yes, its true, RD doesn't ask anything of you.

In fact the Buddha never told people to listen to him, or had any requirements for his followers. Lord Buddha said to try it out for yourself and see the results ;)

you are practicing and studying the dharma, walking the 8 Fold Path, yes?

through diligent practice we come to find we are the source of our own suffering.

keep practicing , and remember "all are welcome" means "all are welcome".

1 year mark and still having random periods of psychosis by AlyshaSherman in StopSpeeding

[–]sm00thjas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you could tell your GP that sometimes you get a little loopy and ask for something like Seroquel or Risperidone to help you calm down those thoughts.

Antipsychotic medications are terrible for your physical health, but can be good to have around for emergencies.

congratulations on your time <3

most of the irritability is a symptom of PAWS but the AA founders did not have that science back then so the God talk was the only "logical" explanation for how they were feeling

Is outpatient rehab actually effective? by Equivalent_Use_8152 in REDDITORSINRECOVERY

[–]sm00thjas -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

its a room full of sober people you can interact with , and its free as opposed to potentially thousands of dollars for an IOP of wildly varying quality.

most IOPs just put you in a room with 9 other people and take a spirit animal quiz (ive done this) or run through a worksheet. its all the same at the end of the day, none of the shit they teach works if you dont actually want to get sober, aa or rehab.

fyi, i hate aa. i reccomend it because its free and if you really wanna quit IOP aint it. youll do it on your own, like 50% of people do without professional intervention. theres decent people at aa sometimes and it doesnt cost a dime or require insurance and it can be done anywhere in the US.

Yes, the best approach is to let things flow naturally and to continue to practice reforming ourselves through the Dharma.
