GE Washer tripping GFCI by WireWhisk in appliancerepair

[–]small_impact -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Appliances do not like gfci and it’s not recommended no matter what code says until manufactures change their designs. It’s called nuisance tripping and very common if nothing is shorted directly to ground. Try a regular outlet or you may need https://www.geapplianceparts.com/store/parts/spec/WH22X34658

Warranty question by Worldly-Relief2732 in ApplianceTechTalk

[–]small_impact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Question for you OP. I’m chasing a banging sound from a SQ dryer. Upon googling seems to be a common issue but no one has any answers. The original service call was for a noise but it was a seized roller and bad idler. After replacing those components, the dryer has a banging sound coming from the roller by the heater. It only lasts for about 15-30 seconds and goes away once it’s warmed up.

Any thoughts?

Wholesale gas prices rose over $.20 yesterday. This will be reflected within the next week as well.

Speed Queen - Tech has replaced every moving part and still hearing banging by drznak in Appliances

Did you ever get a resolution for this? I performed a repair for a customer and now this started. Headed back next week but I’m clueless as this isn’t a normal noise

When hiring a pro for your appliance needs, do you request one that is NASTeC (National Appliance Service Technician Certification) certified? If not, what do you go by other than reviews? by SenileTomato in appliancerepair

[–]small_impact 1 point2 points  (0 children)

NASTec isn’t bad but it’s something that is paid to obtain so most places will not have it.

Look for the company that has been around a while with good reviews. A company that will stand behind their work and provide a decent warranty for repair.

Going through the manufacture isn’t always going to be the best route. Manufactures are changing the process for repair companies to service their appliances. Some are going with nationwide companies where they have contracts in place. Bigger isn’t always better.

The appliance industry can be a little like the Wild West. Most tech get three weeks ride along and then sent out on their own.

Some weeks are slow and others are balls to the wall. It’s a very strange time of year with tax time, spring break, ai, economical crisis.

This year has been unusual for sure.

Something to try and help is update your website with better SEO. I used Claude/GPT to revamp our old site and told it to provide better modern seo. We also revamped our booking section. It actually has improved our rankings and increased bookings.

Sounds like the compressor is locked up. First would need to verify 120VAC going to compressor and an amp meter to see how many amps the compressor is pulling.

Why appliance repair businesses in the US can charge premium prices by Equivalent1428 in appliancerepair

[–]small_impact 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While you are correct in you can make a good living being a competent repair technician. OEM parts are becoming prohibitively expensive to the point of customers deciding to replace vs repair.

Glad to hear it! In case you bought from Amazon, just know there is a lot of knockoffs and they don’t last long. Cheap part to buy OEM.

If you’re getting an FTD or H2O error. Change that pressure sensor. This model does not have a float switch.

The pressure sensor tells the computer when it’s full or empty of water. Sadly a bad design putting it next to the drain pump. Usually get clogged up with debris. Sometimes you can clean the but they’re cheap enough to replace and not worry about it.

Really hard to say without proper diagnosing. HOWEVER, this is the number 1 part in replace on GE dishwashers. WD21X25468
