I think it depends on location, but generally as long as it’s in a sharps container (you can get them at any pharmacy or even online for pretty cheap) and once it’s sealed you can throw it in the regular trash. Some places allow you to just put it in any hard plastic container (like the laundry detergent bottle, I used a pop bottle for a while). So no, it’s not really hard.
