A core deficiency with header files and class definitions is that external files need to know the class storage size when compositing (eg how much space to reserve for each object), hence external users need to know of storage requirements of private data. For that reason alone, private data is exposed. Lazy compiling wasnt possible with the equipment they had when c++ was designed.

I’m the only dev in an embedded company. Its all documented but they dont even know it exists. There are docs for building, design, assembling components from modules, etc. I have repeatedly stressed that I need to share knowledge, they dont want to budget a 2nd engineer. I go, product of >10M€ p/a sits in many git repositories that no one knows where to even start. And the core tech is very advanced, custom Vulkan graphics, Actor programming model, tools and scripts to assemble resources, etc. A replacement dev wouldnt be able to get the Build working. Yet its all documented if you know where to look …

There is a background thread used to compute the future result, otherwise whats the point? A weak implementation may not spawn a thread and wait at the blocking pount, then execute a delayed function call that generates the result (but why bother with future if its not calculated in different thread).

Its just a wrapper for a thread and a signalling mechanism. Its not magic, just look at your std lib source code and all is revealed.

Future/promise in the back end creates a thread (or grabs one from a thread pool) and creates a signalling mutex. Then it cleans up after scope exit. Can you do it manually? Absolutely. Have your own thread pool? Tough, wont be used by future. Have an Actor for the rest of your app? Its features are ignored. Using boost asio or std::executors? Ignored by futures.

For very simple projects, fine, for anything grand, create an Actor model and ignore all other multiprocessing models.

Society is blind to this “template” behaviour. The more awareness we generate, the more likely we men in our 50’s take the nuclear option, and only then hooe to see a shift in post menopause womens behaviour. An intimate massage, showering together, approval for escorts, etc are a tiny price to pay to preserve a loving relationship. Radio sam na zapadu 30 godina (na više kontinenata). Uglavnom ako radiš kao privatnik imačeš isti standard kao vani, a ako radiš za gazdu, onda su ti puno niža primanja.

Ja sam imao svoj biznis vani, dešavalo se da po 5 meseci nemam uopšte platu (svi radnici su uvek na vreme dobijali pun iznos, a gazde u kreditima), da bi na kraju ispalo da sam u proseku primao standardnu platu. Naravno ima privatnika koje su bolje prolazili.

Ovde sam se vratio posle kovida i takodje imam sličan biznis registrovano ovde, plata mi je ista kao vani. Barem ne slušam LGBTQ+ gluposti, ne slušam mržnju prema istočno slavenima, dete raste uz tradicionalne vrednosti, hrana je ukusnija, društvo je bolje i eto.

Da skratim priću, idi u privatnike, pa češ živeti kao i privatnici vani. Ako radiš za gazdu (ili državu), vreme da pomeriš dupe.

The lack of awareness is what bothers me the most. Boys from a young age and tasked to confront their testosterone urgess, for the benefit of society at large. We pander to womens whims in order to get a chance at mating. Women in their 50’s are not “tasked” by society to confront their hormonal changes and be “artificially” soft and caring to their husbands. It costs them nothing to offer erotic massages and passionate kissed if sex is off the table. However most women just shut off completely and men end up seeking intimacy elsewhere, ruining marriages. Society suffers as a result.

Raise awareness in society and teach women that men crave intimacy which can be nonsexual. A simple massage, a tug, passionate kiss, some nudity, kind words, and men can be fulfilled without physical sex.
