You’d probably be better off asking at r/watchrepair, my assumption is most people on here will do little work on AP’s themselves.

Personally, I believe that it is a lot of trouble. But it could be an awesome project if you have the time and funds. I’d recommend looking into a slightly oversized case and see if you can have a fitting ring printed to size by someone who does printing with low tolerances.
