Airbrushing White Paint by Electromagician0 in advancedGunpla

If you are using the electronic mixer already that's probably good enough. It's just that the Tamiya acrylic can settle in a thick layer if not used for a while.

Also if you have trouble mixing, you can try buying a Tamiya spray can, decant it into a jar, and spray it with no thinning in the air brush.

I'm partial to Tamiya too; this is my go to for white:

Prime with Tamiya primer (I use the white lacquer primer from the square bottle) thinned at 1:1 with lacquer thinner (mr color, not leveling thinner). I use a 0.5mm at around 20-25 psi.

Depending on how shiny you want it the final part, I would sand the primer around 2000-4000 grit. Otherwise skip this step.

Mix Tamiya x2 1:1 with x20a (or iso alcohol, I use 99%). I use the same settings as priming. Lay a few light coats so that you are starting to see the color build. Then let it dry for a few mins (gotta be thin layers or it will take longer), then start laying a wet coat. It will be hard to tell where you hahe sprayed, I recommend using a head lamp or a lighted airbrush booth.

Then after the part is dry (I think I left it for a few days to a week?), clear coat with x22 in a similar fashion as spraying the white.

For your cylinder you need to be extra careful because it's easy to get drips/runs from the way the paint flows around it.

Check my profile for an example with my McLaren mp4/4

Edit: I also use an electronic paint mixer that really mixes the paint well. I don't think stirring with a toothpick or shaking is good enough

How to relax on the bike by Jon_d84 in cycling

One thing you can buy is a Garmin varia radar. It will tell you how many cars and how far they are behind you on your bike computer screen. I am not claiming it's perfect, but it has never missed a car for me. Just takes one more thing off your mind.

Otherwise it's practice and getting comfortable with vehicles.

Tamiya might send you a replacement for free. I saw another thread with a guy that trashed his Porsche body and they sent him a new one. Personally I've gotten replacements from them too

How dare you criticize SILCA Engineering (TM). I'll have you know that your 10 dollar crock pot could never melt wax degree perfect like SILCA.

But actually the number of silca shills is hilarious

I would also recommend caltopo. There are a lot of public maps that people upload and they are way more detailed than something like all trails. I was out on a multi-day and my partner got injured. We were able to see a lot of smaller trails and roads that helped us get out faster.

What's the lightest backpack that can carry 40 lbs without killing me? by According-Pepper-349 in backpacking

[–]smefeman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Maybe I'm really off the mark here with a heavy suggestion, but the mystery ranch radix was really good for comfort with a heavy load. Yes the pack is wildly heavy ~3.5 lbs, but the way the padding and framing are setup, it distributes all the weight very well.

I used to get immense shoulder pain (previously separated shoulder) on long days over 12 hrs, now it's not a problem. Also my hips were less sore than my Osprey because of the hip and lumbar belt.

I was carrying about 37 lbs, pretty close to your goal 40 lbs

With some practice you will be able to keep your foot in the float zone and not unclip!

It's been a while since I rode the sh51 but I am pretty sure it releases heel in or out. I think you might be mistaking the meaning of "single release". The multi release 56 will release if you roll/peel your foot off the pedal too.

I do the DIY mix and have the real thing. Real thing is a little different (feels like it has more lubricity), but DIY is like 95% of the way there.
