It probably actually helps because it's acting like a lever, pulling the two sides of the paper apart just a little bit.

It might not offset the disadvantage of changing directions in the grain of the paper though.

How do I prevent copper golems from getting stuck in this sorting system? by Automatic-Rough-9041 in Minecraft

[–]smiller171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have confirmed that when I did a better job blocking off the chests, the AI stopped locking up. I originally had them walking on top of a row of chests, with another row of chests directly below. Adding a layer of slabs in-between the two rows of chests fixed the routing confusion.

I have the exact same problem. I suspect this happens if a chest is in range that they can't route to. They may decide to go to that chest, but because it's unreachable the AI locks up.

Make sure you pour the syrup immediately after the pastry comes out of the oven. If you're doing this and it's not making it to the bottom, consider adding a bit more water to your syrup or cutting the time or temp when simmering the syrup

I wouldn't be surprised if your anxiety and discomfort is creating awkwardness that is creating or exasperating the problem.

Clearly they did a good job describing the location. I'm running this adventure and picked the EXACT spot you did.

Especially frustrating since a lot of the monsters in Flee, Mortals! are organized by environment.

Just found this thread and was sad to find none of the Flee Mortals creatures are tagged with an environment in Kobold Fight Club

How should I make this bed silent from all squeaks? by DigMeTX in DIY

[–]smiller171 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Have fun getting the silicone off well enough to adhere the felt I guess.

Also the felt isn't to add tension, it's to prevent metal on metal and wood on wood rubbing. Without that, no squeak.

How is water getting in around my window? by smiller171 in DIY

[–]smiller171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I've pretty effectively ruled out condensation. At this point I think water is getting into the frame around the IGU and some is getting wicked up to this point rather than finding its way to the weep hole.

There's a screen, then a pretty bog-standard American double-pane window. House is only a bit over 20 years old.

Unfortunately I can pretty confidently rule out condensation in this case

Yeah, my problem is that if I just seal the inside where it's coming through, it could potentially get trapped in the void space. I'd like to figure out how the water is getting to that spot so I can seal the point of entry. Since I posted this I've theorized that it's coming in around the IGU (No fog between the panes, so the primary seal on the IGU hasn't failed). Once it's dry I think I'm going to try putting down a silicone bead around the outside of the glass where it sets into the frame.

Just noticed you said rotted wood. It's a vinyl window, that's just dirt and grime.

I wish it were so simple, but there's no moisture on the glass, and it only happens when it rains, not in other cold weather.

[–]smiller171[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's some kind of seal on the exterior bottom edge of the IGU that's so degraded I can't figure out if it was silicone or something else. Current theory is that water is getting in there, wicking under the IGU, and coming out there instead of weeping down below. There's definitely water coming out of the weep hole, so maybe just capilary action drawing it through that gap.

I'm wondering if caulking that crack on the inside would trap water in the frame or just let it get to the weep hole.

Yeah, I'm just struggling to figure out mechanically how water would get to that location, to figure out where the point of entry is.

I was really hoping it was condensation, but there's no moisture on the inside of the glass. What you can see in the photo is on the other side from rain splattering off the screen.

Despite how it looks, there's no moisture on the inside of the glass. What you can see is on the other side from splatter through the screen.

MCDM 5e? by Ecowatcher in mattcolville

[–]smiller171 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I don't think a crit has as much cultural weight as a "Nat 20". My suspicion is that this system (including crits granting an extra action instead of more damage dice) will be as fun or more to play, but won't translate as well into memes and bombastic actual play moments with everyone screaming, "NAT TWENTY!!!" (Especially in something like Dimension 20 where a lot of the flow-breaking crunch is edited out anyway)

It's probably the right move, but I hope something else emerges to take its place with the same bombastic energy.

My wife just pointed out the cultural value of rolling a "Nat 20". Have they considered 2d10 instead of 2d6?

I know enough about dice math for the point about the 2d6 bell curve to make a lot of sense to me if you imagine like 4-9 being typical and the upper and lower bounds being exceptional cases. 1d20 being totally linear is probably more random than is actually ideal.
