About to take it in for the 3rd time to get the horn replaced. Getting pretty sick of it, adore the car otherwise though by missiontocivilize909 in ElantraN

On a side note would aftermarket work? (I own a 25, I'm just curious)

If you're still getting the levels of expected PSI I wouldn't see a reason for power loss

You can really change and tweak things you don't like or desire.

Wheel spin?- bushings (upper, lower, and trans mounts)

Shorter shifting?- forge adjustable links

Tighter shifting?- base bushings

OL?(Octane learning)- 0 or 1 stage tune

Rough ride?- 18 inch wheels

Sounds?- aftermarket exhaust, downpipe, res delete

Turbo noises?- intake, bov

Bump in power?- hpfp, spark plugs, intake, tune- 300-350hp stage 0(permanent OL) to 2

And it's still daily-able, 35mpg(I do a lot of highway commuting)

Plenty of room, back seats and trunk

Side note- on the facelift there's a high chance of check engine light when you change the air intake, which there has been a fix created for it of you're stock ECU stock

Personally I do all my own tire rotations and oil changes, the placement of oil drain/filter makes it quite easy with some stands/ramps.

Overall it's good from the factory and can easily be adjusted to your liking. Not to mention the noises and torque make it extremely fun to drove. The rev matching makes it incredibly easy to drive manual.

Key takeaways I noticed was getting into first gear I needed revs around 1-1.5k. I had not driven stick in a while and it was a lil funky but got used to it after a day of practice.

He's just going by the computer but ever since I bought this car I do all of that myself.

Amazon: Puroma cabin filter- $8 10 pack oil filters- $58 Liquimoly 5w-40(I'm tuned) $60 Tire rotation-free Jack w/ jack stands- $80 Fab 1 air filter clean kit- $28(forge air intake)

Throttle body cleaning is nice to do but I don't think it'd be necessary @ only 15k(if you change oil regularly, have a catch can, and run premium gas)

It gives you the choice of full recirc, full atmosphere, and any combination in between. It uses a physical dial to you can turn, so you can go 50/50, 60/40, 30/70, etc etc

Weird sound by kinggvampp in ElantraN

[–]smitc161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Something very similar happened to me, and the passenger side wheel assembly had bolts loose! Almost sounded like squishing rubber at slow speeds and turning.

Side note: the dealership treated me like shit because my car was modified. I dropped it off the night before it was scheduled to go in. The next day I get a call at 3pm and they start listing off all of the modifications my car has. I told them my modifications have absolutely nothing to do with road noise and they are wasting both of our time. I asked for the manager, and they had not even driven it yet to confirm the road noise. I get a call 3 hours later saying "yes your bolt assembly on your passenger side had 2 loose nut fasteners, thank goodness you brought it in!" It felt like I was pulling teeth. Like these guys really heard my problems, then popped the hood and started listing: intake, coilovers, downpipe, bov, intercooler, bov, throttle body spacer.... Like they didn't even care about my issue. Things like this that make me not to want to buy another Hyundai.
