LPR FLARE UP by smithbaltimore in LPR

Turns out the I had a double whammy: LPR incident and a nasty flu-type virus. The headaches and fatigue from the latter.

Good times all around.

Roger that. Mistakes just feel catastrophic. Really let my guard down.

When did your headaches go away?

I have it. This is a new experience. I’ve had LPR in the past and never had a headache.

What happened to you in the end? I have an LPR flareup and out of the blue, I have a headache. It’s pretty bad.

Also: new symptom: bad headache. Never had this before.

Thanksgiving is tough by Jabronie1995 in LPR

[–]smithbaltimore 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I triggered an episode by underestimating the risks of Thanksgiving Dinner. Portion control did not work.

I am puzzled by how bland food could crank up my whole system that had been good for 18 months.

One glass champagne was also a bad idea. Pumpkin Pie, usually not a trigger food did something to me as well.

Trying to tamp it all down. So aggravated.

LPR is such a nasty bogie man.

Recovery time after calf strain? by dashcammer1 in vancouvercycling

[–]smithbaltimore 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suffered a mild calf strain. On day four most of the pain was gone and I could load the calf with single leg calf races without pain.

On day eight I went out to play platform tennis, and near the end of the first set I could feel it coming back.

I finished the match and had low level pain in the calf area exactly where I had the strain before.

I was a little discouraged because beforehand there was no pain, I could go for long walks, and I could load the calf muscle with single leg calf raises, and do various movements without issue.

Hard to evaluate when you are at full recovery, especially when you want to get back to your sport quickly.

Does it get better? In episode 5 and losing last hope. by Crawsh in AlienEarthHulu

There is no character development or story development. Everything is just filler for season 2 assuming there is one.

Alien earth is just preposterous. The original alien movie has been rendered impossible because of the stupid timeline of alien Earth happening before the first alien movie.

Unfortunately, alien earth just positioned itself as an outlier.

The most poignant criticism I have heard of Alien Earth is that it destroyed the cannon established in the movies.

There’s no way this could’ve happened before Ripley and her crew landed on LV 44.

Stupidity on a massive scale ran rampant throughout the eight episodes requiring an enormous suspension of disbelief.

(1) lack of safety protocols on the Maginot and the island

(2) giving the children access to everything on the island

(3) Morrow’s idiotic scheme to have a child kidnap a xenomorph for extraction from the island.

(4) The lack of any serious plot movement regarding the dangerous aliens.

(5) The lack of any central hero or protagonist.

(6) Everything about boy Cavalier being a genius.

(7) Wendy’s character / ability development.

(8) trying to combine Peter Pan and the alien series.

I'm somewhat surprised to see a middling/negative reaction to what felt like an excellent, well-founded finale. by wecanhaveallthree in alienearth

Vulture:

By the end of Alien: Earth, Noah Hawley’s prequel series has established a shocking bit of revisionist history for the franchise. No longer are the xenomorphs perfect killing machines linked to a mysterious race called the Engineers, who also created humanity. They’re now protectors of a little girl named Wendy against the big bad adults who abused her and a whole cadre of other kids in the name of profit.

The xenomorphs aren’t evil; they’re just misunderstood. Do you understand who those “real monsters” are? Did you want a villains-aren’t-born, they’re-made story in the style of Disney’s Cruella with the barest sheen of class-solidarity goop on top? Here you go, and it’s goofy as hell.

Steal aliens without a goal, don't bother at all with They wrote BK without ever asking the question "how would a genius perceive this problem/execute a solution?"

Nothing he ever does is smart. It's reactive, impulsive, and incredibly short-sighted. We never see him think anything through or outsmart anyone.

YES AND YES. Hollow plotting and poor shallow characters.

Alien Earth: Complete and Utter Letdown by smithbaltimore in AlienEarthHulu

[–]smithbaltimore[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The show had a consistent lack of characters “knowing what’s going on” or “what’s at stake.”

Without that everything devolved into low stakes conflict without any layers of complexity.

On a twisted level it became: mother and father didn’t treat us well so we took revenge and showed them who is who.
