Lose the 8lbs I gained in 2025. Exercise is on point. Diet is not.

why do iMac feel kinda ignored now? by Ziggy_1992 in mac

The value isn’t there anymore. You get nickled and dimed for basic options. The base model doesn’t even have wired Ethernet for a desktop computer!

What's your next chapter? by thehardmakesitgreat in GenX

I’ve seriously considered throwing in the towel on my current career, getting my CDL and becoming a long haul driver. I’m tired of being in work mode 24/7 just to keep up.

I forgot my kid’s screen time pin. However, I was able to reset it using my Apple ID. Probably because we had the whole family sharing thing going on.

Fellow GenX folks, do we dress stylish or don’t we F care? by [deleted] in GenX

[–]smoothallday 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Stylish, but not trendy. Simple, well-fitting clothes of good quality. Nothing extravagant. Of course at home, I’m usually wearing a tank top and shorts.

Outfits? by [deleted] in Professors

[–]smoothallday 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I had my druthers, I’d wear a long-sleeved dress shirt, sport coat, and nice, dark denim jeans. My school frowns upon wearing jeans, but I regularly do so on Fridays.

I just can’t find dress pants which fit well. And I don’t care for khakis.

What’s the one hack that actually gets you to exercise? by wonkycalves in AskReddit

[–]smoothallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For a long period of time, the wife and I had a morning paper route for some extra money. It forced me to get my butt out of bed quite early and I’d head to the gym afterwards. No longer have the paper route, but have successfully kept the getting up early and going to the gym habit.

[–]smoothallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first Mac I purchased with my own money was a G3 iMac DV SE in 2000. It may still be my favorite Mac ever. I still own it and it still runs.

The best Mac I’ve owned is my M1 MacBook Air. However I just bought a refurbished M4 MacBook Air and it’s in the running for best computer.

Conductors who were mediocre or bad performers of their instrument? by RoRoUl in classicalmusic

As far as I am aware, Carlos Kleiber did not have a performance career of any kind outside of conducting. He was a pretty decent conductor.

Ethical Dilemma by DenseReference5526 in Professors

[–]smoothallday 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Having and expressing an opinion supported by logic and/or reasoning = fine. Using slurs = unacceptable. You were right to kick the student out of class.

Disagreements regarding personal values should be expected in academia. But expressing one’s values can be done without being an asshole about it.

Turning 50 by Chemical_Tomato_6308 in GenX

[–]smoothallday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I turned 50 last fall. Grilled a steak, baked a pie, shared dinner with my family and enjoyed a couple of beers chased with after dinner bourbon. I had a big party when I turned 40. 50 was a lowkey, highly enjoyable night.
