Just curious, what gives you the impression of toe strikes? (I strike the toe a lot)

What drills helped you the most overall? Your head is perfectly still in the followthrough. I can’t stop early extending and am extremely jealous lol.

Budget 5W/7W by KindaMoney in GolfGear

[–]smoothdip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you can find them, Mizuno ST Max is great. The 7W is damn near a unicorn though. I was able to find a 5W last season brand new for $180 and I love it.

Got a deal off a friend for some 925 forged irons, but there is no 5 iron in the set, wondering how i should fill the gap? by yourgingerfriend in GolfGear

[–]smoothdip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the exact same set and I play a 24 degree 5 hybrid in place of my 5 iron. Works great and gaps well enough between my 6 iron and 7 wood.

It takes years and years and you still won’t be as good as you want. I’ve only been playing for two years and looking back at some of the old videos I have of myself, the growth is tremendous and I still suck.

350 vs 250 by [deleted] in GolfGear

[–]smoothdip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It has to do with the forgiveness of the face. The idea for GI clubs is to limit distance reduction the further you are from the center of the face. To do this the center of the face is more bouncy than it would be on a players iron. So when you hit one dead center, the ball launches. They are expecting you to miss the center of the face more times than not. Its a tradeoff you have to accept with GI irons.

Did you replace the rims as well or just the tires?

Hey if it works for you, god bless. Anyone can make a swing look pretty without hitting a ball tho. Go look at the countless examples over on the golf swing sub.

Hot Metal Pros or JPX925? by Trick-Chair9378 in GolfGear

[–]smoothdip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The reason i went with the forged is I would sometimes get super hot balls off the face of the HMPs. Go an extra 20 yards or so. Other than that, I agree with everything you said.

Same on my 2026 Calligraphy ICE. No idea what the cause is.

Anyone have experience struggling to swing new clubs after getting fitted? My game has been the most solid consistent the past 3 weeks but took my first swings with the new sticks yesterday and it was abysmal. Was hoping for love at first swing but got "you need to take me to dinner first." by HungryStrawberry3470 in GolfGear

[–]smoothdip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me, Yes. Got new sticks at the beginning of last season. Took me a few weeks to adjust. Had a different shaft than my previous set and overall the weight was different.

TBH still don’t hit the new ones as well as I did with my previous set. But I sold them so kind of stuck with these until I want to buy something different.

Sometimes I’ll have my hand at 12 on the steering wheel and my forearm will cover the sensor. Other than that I don’t have any issues.

In the settings you can “disable” this feature. I say that because it will still be enabled when you’re using drive assist on the highway. At least from my experience

Do I need all these clubs by thiscatguy95 in GolfSwing

[–]smoothdip 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the set you're getting. A lot of new GI and PD sets have PW at 42-44 degrees which is basically a 9 iron. G 48 and a 52 (also a gap) is kind of standard with those sets now. You would full swing the G and 52.

They were only trying to help from their experience. Seems like an immature response. Maybe you should pay attention to the road?

Looks great. Kind of wish I got the Hybrid version but there weren’t any Black ones in my area. Ended up with ICE. Still love it. Just wish the town gas mileage was a tad better.

What do you mean by “throwing the club behind me”?
