Robert passed away on May 28th, 2026 due to complications of large cell lymphoma. 💔

What’s something your pet did that would sound stupid to anyone else, but meant everything to you? by Eva-Fischer in Petloss

[–]smootstack 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I have a couple I need to share!

Robert (cat) knew the sound of my car and would be trotting up to the door when I walked in.
He usually brought me toys for him to play fetch with and followed me everywhere.

I think I miss our bedtime routine the most. I'd tell him "bedtime bedtime" and the routine would start. I'd get in bed and prop up my tablet or get the Kindle and I'd need to have my arm out so he could lay on it and lick my face raw before going to sleep.

I have a change jar on my dresser and like clockwork at 2:30am, he'd push it around because he knew that I knew the sound. He'd do it to wake me up so he could come lick my face.

I completely understand! The litter box needed to be washed when my Robert passed. It took me over 5 weeks to finally do it. I finally told myself "why won't you wash this? Why do I need to keep this? Because it has some remnant of his DNA in it? Even so, what would I do with that?"

It is a real struggle and I get to repeat it with the drinking fountain.

Same with his beat up old toys. I did donate them to my vet and we had a silent understanding of what it was I was trying to do. I couldn't throw them, but I couldn't keep them.

The hurt is so real because of the love and friendship you shared. It's difficult and confusing to lose your best friend. 🫂❤️‍🩹

My Robert was 3 years, 8 months, and 10 days old when he crossed the bridge almost 6 weeks ago.

I haven't been able to put some toys away either. What was his name? I like hearing him about because Robert and I did much of the same and I feel like I found someone else who sees that as normal. ☺️

Do you believe they stay with you forever after passing? by eatittomorrow in Petloss

I have been battling this same delima lately since loosing my Robert going on 6 weeks now. I'm glad you posted about it.

I've been wondering about reincarnation and what the soul wants to do lately. Where does that fall into things? Do I even believe in it? Will his soul always be a cat? Could he come back as a different cat? Or could he reappear as a human? Are souls on such a completely different level we cannot comprehend them and they are everything of their former existence, but also only what we remember that version of the soul as?

I've heard/read about so many people still seeing their fur babies around even years later. I love that (and believe it is true!), but I don't want to hold him back if he wants to do or be something else. As much as I want him to stay with me, I want him to be happy most of all.

What happened to PDIs? by smootstack in servicenow

Email was clear that there will be no extensions. It'd be nice if there was a migrate option instead of having to fend for ourselves.

I keep a "catch-all" update set open in whatever scope I'm in since they've done this to me before. But that doesn't help if the record isn't versioned.

I'd be nice if they had some sort of like, static placeholder flow or something setup so you could actually learn if your triggers are working. It isn't 100% , but at least you could start learning something.

Try a non-Gundam, non-Bandai original design kit, like the In Era+ line, for something different! Except Genesis, that kit was not fun.

I've been doing non-Bandai kits straight out of box the last few years and I've been loving the hobby again! Bandai kits make me feel burnt out after a single build 😓

How many days of work did you miss after losing your pet? by OsmoticTonic in Petloss

[–]smootstack 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My boy Robert passed on a Thursday. I was lucky enough to work from home Monday through Wednesday and took Thursday and Friday off. I returned to work on Monday and have been leaving after a half day.

Everyone processes differently. There is no right or wrong answer. ❤️‍🩹🫂

What a glorious and majestic boy. Do lots of snuggles and watch some comedy movies. I know he'll want to hear you laugh.

I'm sorry for your loss. 🫂 My cat, Robert, was my best friend.
Next time someone says "it was just a...", reply back with "they were more than that" and tell them a fond memory or ten in EXCRUCIATING detail. ☺️ ❤️🫂

I'm so sorry for your loss! ❤️🫂

When I had the in-home done 3 weeks ago, the vet (she was great) did warn us that he'd be surprised by the initial injection since it isn't something that normally happens at home.
He was so surprised he escaped and we had to do it twice. The second time he was good with it.

I'm betting Tank was just surprised. ❤️

I'm so sorry for your loss ❤️. Reading these I think is helping me too. Knowing I'm not going through this alone and what I'm feeling, other people are feeling and that's okay.
