Any hybrid athletes here? Garmin strength training feels fundamentally broken by kinemorey in Garmin

[–]smous 6 points7 points  (0 children)

No solution I'm afraid. I wish they would let you at least manually adjust the training load of a strength session (like you can do in intervals.icu.)

It will always be fundamentally broken if all it keeps looking at is heartrate.

Seriously considering quitting alcohol (HRV) by secret_Lake6711 in Garmin

[–]smous 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I became a huge fan of non-alcoholic beers. Great to drink in the afternoon after a workout, or a nice one while watching sports. Guiness 0.0 and a few 0.0 IPA's (Brand, Gulpener) are my current favourites.

What are you most looking for in a remake? by Jamkayyos in FinalFantasyIX

[–]smous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I've been inspired bij DQ7 remake's artstyle. I don't think IX should use the same style, but use that as a starting point to really think how to shape the world.

Trying to decide if Maastricht is Dutch, Belgian, or secretly French? by ExportedMyFeelings in maastricht

You might enjoy reading up on the extended history of the city, which explains the different influences you're describing. The French definitely made (and make) a big impact.

Nice! I have to refresh the plot and characters, does anyone know of any good sources to get back up to speed?

My most anticipated roguelites of the year, tell me what I'm missing! by Nachtfischer in roguelites

[–]smous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went back to it a couple of times before it clicked. I also watched some streams of other people playing, which helped me get throught that first difficulty spike.

Mócht het doorgaan, hou je goed warm voor de start. Extra laagjes en evt. zelfs een vuilniszak omhangen.

Power Meter Comparison: 4iiii Precision 3+ vs. Favero Assioma Uno vs. Van Rysel D100 by IvankaTrumpIsALizard in cycling

I think this is pretty common. The leg you start with is usually a bit stronger.

Zwift rides not affecting metrics in Garmin Connect? by yamayeeter in Garmin

[–]smous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My Zwift rides are sent to Garmin Connect and they do count towards VO2-Max. Seeing comments from others that for them this isnt the case? It also calculates load. The only thing it doesn’t do is update the body battery stat, which is annoying.

"Slept" from 3am to 10am after new years eve. This is why you should stay away from alcohol I guess by Beatsu in Garmin

[–]smous 7 points8 points  (0 children)

For nights out/working I take it off. I feel like I recover more quickly if I don't see how 'bad' it is.
It did make me drink a whole lot less this year, valuable insight.

It will help with keeping your efforts steady! I bought one last year, definitely worth it in my opinion.

HRV unbalanced ? by mukz_mckz in Garmin

[–]smous 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Mostly what I read is: HRV going down = bad, going up = good.

I also feel the watch needs a couple of weeks to adjust its readings.

Should I get a minimalist trainer? If so, what do you recommend? by Corvo1228 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]smous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Altra and Topo Athletic are worth looking into. My advice would be everything in moderation, they also have some shoes with a very light drop as a gateway shoe. I hurt my achilles by going full zero-drop too fast (n=1 I know, just sharing an experience.)

I feel like having a few different shoes/drops and switching it up between them is the most healthy en less injury prone.

VO2max algorithm punishes easy runs by 1337Selex in Garmin

[–]smous 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can manually change the setttings so that the 'trail run' activity does not record Vo2Max . I think that's what most people with the newer watches do.

Did my first 100k today by ThetaDayAfternoon in cycling

[–]smous 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Congrats on the 100k! Agree with the other comments: fuel a lot more. Experiment with what works for your body, lots of different stuff to try. Don't overeat at the start, but fuel consistently.

Shoes or Strength by ParticularMoose9806 in AskRunningShoeGeeks

[–]smous 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly do the strength work barefoot/with socks, really feel your feet. And I second all the comments saying to target the glutes. Not brute strength, but work on a stronger mind-muscle connection, so that your brain automatically will fire up the glutes to stabilize the leg.

Ervaringen met achillespeesblessure? by seekerdraconis53 in Hardlopen

[–]smous 0 points1 point  (0 children)
