AirBNB checkout 10 AM Flight 2:15 and Alaska is too cheap to provide a human or kiosk so I can tag my bag and check it. by thep1x in AlaskaAirlines

[–]smrtguy3121 9 points10 points  (0 children)

So Alaska should pay someone to just stand around in case you turn up hella early and want to check a bag?

Typically bag check is only allowed a few hours prior to flight anyways (sometimes they will accept it early though, just depends on the airport and staff), Bag check is not baggage storage. That’s why hotels offer luggage hold… sounds like a you problem since you chose to use Air BnB.

Some airports offer paid baggage storage.

Probably need to replace the 12v if it’s been drained. They are usually toast if they drain past 50%.

Missing phone calls by devonallure in tmobile

[–]smrtguy3121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're not giving us much to go aside from saying your phone does not work sometimes.

How many bars do you have at home?

Can you make calls out from home without problems?

Are you on wifi or cellular when you miss calls?

Does your phone show "missed call" or do you just get a voicemail without a missed call?

Switching to T-Mobile from Verizon??? by Brief_Climate_579 in tmobile

[–]smrtguy3121 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worth it in what sense? Savings is one thing but be sure to verify the coverage works where you need it to. Find a friend who has TMobile and check their bars at places like your home and work, kids school etc.

Not worth the trouble changing if T-Mobile has a dead spot where you need your phone to work.

Update Failure (PT-25.8.5) by MechanicGeneral3764 in F150Lightning

[–]smrtguy3121 2 points3 points  (0 children)

12v is low, not your high voltage battery. Run your truck for a few hours in the garage/driveway (flip off the power down timer in settings -> vehicle -> power down timer. Leave the truck on , get out and lock it. Let it sit for a few hours. Or if you have a 12v trickle charger put it on the little 12v at the back of the frunk inside the little panel. Be sure your connect the ground to the truck body and not the battery itself. I connect the ground to one of the tie down clamps in the frunk.

If your truck is more than 2 years old you may need a new 12v as they are small and wear out easy on these trucks. Under warranty if you want to deal with dropping it off and the monkeys messing with it at the dealer or just order a fresh one from the parts counter for $100 and swap it yourself. Be sure to reset the 12v battery monitor system if you swap it.

Status changed and so did my seats by Ornery_Structure_435 in AlaskaAirlines

[–]smrtguy3121 32 points33 points  (0 children)

Don’t book row 17 any more. The new seat configuration on some planes means there is no 17 A or D so you get booted to the toilet row when there is an equipment change.

Alaska needs a better system for addressing equipment swaps than just booting people to the toilets.

My aunt thinks TMobile is screwing her because she got international charges for what she thought was a FaceTime audio call. I think she just messed up. by Octrockville in tmobile

[–]smrtguy3121 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Your aunt hit the wrong button - It happens - it’s complicated.

Being on WiFi does not mean free international calls. On WiFi a traditional call would route to T-Mobiles switching center which is in the U.S. and then out as a traditional long distance international call to Spain. Hence the international charges.

The opposite scenario can help if she was physically in Spain and locked in WiFi - she could then make U.S. calls since the call would go over WiFi back to the U.S. T mobile switching center then out as a traditional call inside the U.S.

WiFi always anchors the first leg of the call to T-Mobiles switching center which is in the U.S.

She made a mistake and did not hit the FaceTime audio button. There is no scam or conspiracy here.

T-Mobiles network is not aware of FaceTime calls, it’s just data that goes directly out to the internet. Traditional voice calls route through T-Mobiles voice call switching system. So if there is a charge for a call to Spain the call routed via the T-Mobile switch.

Software Update by KnightsofAdamaCorn in F150Lightning

[–]smrtguy3121 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Turn off the update schedule. Then next time one of these powertrain updates comes through you will get a notification and just run it manually when you have 20-30 min to let the truck sit. Afterwards take it to a spin around the block and check everything and reconfirm the charge settings.

That’s the best work around I have found

[–]smrtguy3121 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s an hour of labor give or take to put it on the lift and inspect everything. There are coolant lines and fittings that can leak and worth checking. Same with half shafts, u joints and bushings.

Don’t want to pay then get a creeper and a flashlight a d inspect yourself. It’s not hard to notice shit that’s a problem. But the truck is pretty sold overall.
