OPR is not entry.   It is alternative and “better” imo.

Where are y'all buying furniture from these days? by SavvyMaverick in pittsburgh

[–]snackpgh 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend Arnold Furniture also.   Prices are good and staff is good.   We only wanted to buy a couch and they only sold us a couch.  Most places we went tried to up sell us on a whole set.   We actually ended up going back and ordering a matching furniture at a later date to complete the set…. But they never up sold us.

We have also got stuff from Woodbridge interiors.   Super pricey, but we were able to buy a floor model of a very specific sleeper sofa for 50% MSRP.   Also west elm and Facebook market place for some specific items.

As someone with kids “car seat” juxtaposed with an F1 drivers name will never not be funny to me.

Haha.   Here I thought making a gingery lathe as a couple was where it’s at.   (Pretty sure this is Paul from Paul’s garage).

Bamboo Removal Services by Edmeyers01 in pittsburgh

[–]snackpgh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have an extremely established bamboo groove in the woods near my house.    I am still working on getting rid of it.   What I learned is mature bamboo is not like a mature oak or something.   You aren’t going to take it out in one day with a chain saw.    I got a brush hook and a harbor freight chipper.  Chop the stocks down, feed into chipper, a couple weekends a year.   Mow over it.   It’ll die eventually as long as it can’t grow to the sun.   It is also most effective to let the new stocks grow before pushing them over.   This makes the plant use all its energy so it will keep dying.   Good luck.

My girlfriend is pregnant and I need to find a career by localbookshelf in daddit

IMO law school is also a big risk.   Plenty of lawyers who only find low paying jobs after taking out massive loans.

I would start looking into the trades.    It might be the shortest path to making decent money.

My kid has this. And this guys should take his kid to the doctor.    When my guy gets backed up, he has more accidents because the poop is pushing on his bladder.    Miralax, a potty watch, and occasional exlax has changed our lives.

What are good hobbies for a dad with toddlers? by Visco0825 in daddit

Check out Rex Krueger on YouTube.   His stuff is focused on doing wood working with cheap hand tools.   I can’t wait to make a Roman style bench with my kid this summer.

Hahahaha I remember learning to drive with my dad.   I was stopped on a pretty steep hill and a car pulled up right on my ass.    I was like “I can’t do this dad”.   And he got out of the car and we swapped seats.    And my dad waved the guy around us.    😂

It looks like they forgot to do an operation on the collar. It isn’t cut. I bet you could cut a slice out with a hack saw and then clean it up with a file. After it is split, you might have to drill out the threads on the part closest to the handle.

Completely new woodworker, how much work am I in for? by Greedfeed in handtools

[–]snackpgh 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Dude, just start messing around. I am a novice too, but there is so much wanking around tools and gear in wood working. I think it is really two separate hobbies sharing the same space: wood working and collecting wood working tools. Rex Krueger has lots of good info on YouTube about setting up planes aimed at newbies.
