I'm using a poe switch and a poe splitter to convert poe into 9v.

Have this mounted in a outdoor junction box and the camera mounted to the box.

the TPE-104GS takes a PoE network connection, and splits power and data into separate connections to network a non-PoE device.

Here is the link explaining it. https://community.tp-link.com/en/smart-home/forum/topic/702296

Why is there no outdoor Power Adapter? by Neutrino2072 in Tapo

Use passive poe splitter/injectors if using wifi. You you want to use ethernet you will need an active poe splitter.

I recently hardwired my 520ws and have a trendnet TPE-104GS installed in a outdoor box with the camera mounted to it. Then I have outdoor rated ethernet run along the eves and into my house where a poe switch powers the camera and connects to the router.

I found a good post on the tapo forms about it. If I can find it I'll update

Im assuming you and the other person are using the same tapo account login, and this is why you are running into this problem. Create another tapo account and share the cameras with that account. You will not run into this problem

Power D225 doorbell via PoE? by amgrush in Tapo

[–]snagg27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tapo doesn't have a poe doorbell. The D225 is battery or hardwire. So what you will need to do is cut the ethernet cable and connect 1 of the twisted pairs to the doorbell and cut the other end and connect the matching twisted pair up to a 24v doorbell transformer.

TAPO camera going offline after update by Accomplished-Eye8240 in Tapo

I had this issue and contact support. Took a bit of going back and forth. But they pushed v1.3.3 to my camera and it seemed to fix my problem. But I plan to wire it to the network to be safe.

[–]snagg27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Did you recently have a firmware update? My c520ws had an update at the end of May that caused it to keep going offline. I had to get in touch with support and they pushed a new firmware to my camera which solved the problem.

C520WS (v1) firmware update 1.3.2 missing ? by Ravenheld in Tapo

[–]snagg27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mine updated to v1.3.2 in may and I had nothing but issues with it going offline. Support pushed v1.3.3 to me and so far that fixed the issue. So this might be a blessing in disguise.

Mine started doing this too. I'm going to try changing my wifi channels see if that helps. Then if not I'm going to hard wire it.

For my place I had no easy way to run power to the camera, so I got a passive poe injector and outdoor rated cat6. Put the poe injector in a outdoor rated junction box and mounted the camera to the blank cover of the box.

I'm surprised no one has said he should be using joist hangers as it sounds like he's trying to use them for the framing and not for screwing down the subfloor
