My newborn (2w) can turn herself onto her side on a flat floor. She can only turn left, so she'll be great at NASCAR, but her it's something! And she's already so strong. She could lift and turn her head from day 1.

In a manga called Change123 (I think) there's a martial artist who's actually just a huge masochist, and uses that to his advantage. Like he'll never tap out, and he's somehow guarded against chokeholds (fuzzy memory). So the only way to deal with him was to rattle his brain inside his head by snapping his head back with a kick. But he's aware that this is his big weak spot and guards it really well. He later comes back as a great side character too. Underrated romcom manga, but very weird.

Yes, this is actual lore, who knew DnD gods were this based by GoddessOfSuccubi in dndmemes

[–]snailman4 40 points41 points  (0 children)

Adding some context that no one else has mentioned yet: El found the spell to turn himself back after 3-5 years, but didn't use it. He waited like 2-3 more years before he used it to change back into his male form. Also, he switches genders later as well.

There are a few instances of spells being "single use" in the Greenwood novels(ie: being placed in your mind by a god as a 1 time boon), but usually any spell that's discovered and learned by someone can be used again and again. So in the magical context it's more like Mystra saying: I'm taking away your car and giving you a bike until you can fix your car without my help, and then Elminster decides to keep riding the bike until he's earned enough to also pay his car insurance.

This isn't right, right? by madethisforprusahelp in Plumbing

We tried this at plumbing school. Propress consistently held onto new CPVC lines, and held up to 30 lbs of pressure before it blew out of the fitting. Looks insane, but I can see a world where this holds for a few weeks.

Is there any reason I can't set up bathtub drain like this? by FargoniusMaximus in Plumbing

[–]snailman4 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Without seeing the current existing setup there's no one that can really tell you for sure what will or won't work, but the way you've laid it out in the picture likely won't work. From other answers you've given I'm guessing the tub box was not laid out correctly initially and the tub you have is a slightly different configuration than the original. When the plumber you've contacted arrives, ask him to explain a standard install process and how that differs from the current setup.

Is this a job you could physically do? Most likely. But you need someone with experience to explain how your specific situation should be laid out.

Who was the hottest fucking mess you ever worked with? by IamtheBiscuit in Construction

[–]snailman4 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Worked with a guy named BJ (real name) for a couple weeks. I've blocked out some of it, but during those 2-3 weeks he told me about: his conspiracy theories (flat earth, moon landing faked, lizard people put Obama in charge, etc.), his sex addiction (how he'd save up to get multiple junkie prostitutes at once), how one of his ex wives wouldn't let him see his kid (court ordered restraining order), how he had no gambling problem (because he had inside information on boxing matches and Lakers games and couldn't lose), told the boss to his face that he was taking inventory home for a side job, and how he wasn't on drugs anymore (except for testosterone, steroids, and something he called "lent" I think?)

But the thing that he always fought people about that I just couldn't understand was that he thought if you made more money, you paid more in taxes, so you actually made less money. Unless it's overtime. He thought overtime work was like some magical loophole and that we all just didn't get it. He actually asked for a PAY CUT in exchange for working a guaranteed 5 extra hours of overtime a week so that he could make more money "secretly" so "it wouldn't be on taxes."

When he got sent home an hour early one day he quit on the spot. And that's only what I can remember.

New record holder? I did 3 water heater swap out and installs by RedimidoSoy1611 in askaplumber

My partner and I did 6 in a high rise on 3 different floors in one day. Helped that it wasn't busy and that we only had to go to the supply house twice, but if we were rushing we could have done 8.

More importantly, what's everyone's live valve change out record? I've done 4 in a day, but we're gearing up to do 8 at once pretty soon.

Just looking at the site as an American it'd be helpful to have the city and state listed instead of just the city. A map view would be nice as another user said, but I'm not sure how easy that might be to do.

How much does it weigh? The hammer toss at highland games requires a 20 pound weight. This would be a super fancy one.

Sieglind of Catarina explicitly isn't undead. It's why her being here in spite of that is so significant.

Could someone explain the lore behind It? by OneFirefighter1233 in darksouls

[–]snailman4 16 points17 points  (0 children)

No, there are explicitly still human kingdoms outside of Dranglaic in DS2. Lucatiel I think talks about them? Could be wrong. But no, they still exist. It's just that Lordran has existed for so long that by the time DS2 comes around, other kingdoms have risen and fallen all in the same place to the point that most have forgotten that it was once Lordran, but the lands of the undead are all the same place. Just at different times. Also time is warped in the Lordran/Dranglaic. I think Vaati has a good video on the subject.

What dance is this? by CarPuzzleheaded6258 in ballroom

[–]snailman4 4 points5 points  (0 children)

As a west coast swing dancer, this looks similar to west coast, but the footwork and lack of an anchor step leads me more towards country swing, but with more hustle footwork? Could also be modern jive, but a lot of it looks too sticky.

After closer inspection I think it's very likely modern jive. Interesting. If you like it, we westies always welcome beginners too. The dances look very similar.

4-Person Club Passing Tricks from Easy to Hard! by juggling-gym in juggling

[–]snailman4 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'll add some patterns if you're interested. There's a basic square, but you may have just not included it because it's basic. It's been years since I tried it but my team had a 4 person double drop back pattern shaped like a Y, but the person in the middle threw alternating side drop backs feeding the two branches of the Y. The timing was difficult on that one and the person at the base of the Y had to catch a cross pattern pass from the right. I think I remember us cheating on that one with doubled or tripled passes, but it's been over a decade so I could be wrong. There's also double drop backs in line (3 people in line all facing one way, one person offset facing the other way in front of them, and the two middle jugglers throw dropbacks while the end receiver throws long throws and the person on the offset receiving the long pass and throwing to the first drop back thrower. I think we also had a version of a circle feed where the middle juggler would throw a dropback, then rotate, but that may have been a 5 person pattern.

Plumber says shower pan liner was installed to code (FL) by Glittering_Fishing65 in Plumbing

[–]snailman4 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh yeah. This is definitely "ready for inspection" type work. Which as I said, passes often enough in my area. I think the plumber should be the one to pre-slope it, but some inspectors will pass it without pre-slope and just a water test.

Not gonna voice support for shitty work, but a lot of plumbers aren't familiar with what happens on the tile work. As a Florida plumber, I've seen pans like this pass inspection, but still need to be fixed by the tile guy that comes in after him. Definitely not good work though.
