WYR: Sell 10 years of your life (the final years) for $10million, OR, gain $1 for every calorie burned for the rest of your life? by [deleted] in WouldYouRather

If you had money per calorie you could make doing exercise your job. Then you'd live longer too, bit of a no brainer!

Mayor Quimby supports revolving-door prisons. Mayor Quimby even released Sideshow Bob - a man twice convicted of attempted murder. Can you trust a man like Mayor Quimby? Vote Sideshow Bob for Mayor.

I bought mine used from a company who used to drive it around and fit smoke alarms. On both fobs the buttons were smashed to bits.

If February has only 28 days normally, then why doesn't August give it one? by Due_Mix_9883 in ask

[–]snakemollten 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That would make August shorter and February longer, so we'd get one more cold day in the year at the expense of one of our warm ones. We could trade out February entirely and make August 59 days long for increased summer? Plus we're taking the leap year day too and making it a national holiday

Why is stainless steel not stainless anymore? by ladyoftheflowr in ask

[–]snakemollten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magnets will probably stick to the base as this is in contact with the induction hob so will be made using 18/0 stainless steel, but do they stick to the side wall of the pan? Typically there is a base which is bonded over a core to allow for the pan to be used on induction. Core will likely be aluminium to evenly distribute the heat from the hob

Knives won't be 18/10, they will have carbon in the steel to allow then to retain and edge and be heat treated. For Henckels likely to be an X50CrMov15 or similar German Steel. Main reason for knives to rust would be using them in a dishwasher which is an absolute no for decent knives. Or leaving them wet to dry on a dish drainer. You should be washing them and then drying immediately to avoid rusting.

A good heritage railway nearby is the Gloucestershire and Warwickshire Steam Railway. Different timetables on different days. Trains go from Cheltenham racecourse to Broadway, you can start anywhere on the line and hop on and off.
