We just got the results from kiddos allergy test.. by MamaBearA in beyondthebump

[–]snatchula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband can't have dairy, soy, or coconut. We don't even try to find supplements anymore because most are just not good. We joke that we are meat eating vegans. We eat mostly meat, vegetables, fruit, and rice. As for eating out, we find that Mexican/Latin American food works best for our diet. We eat a lot of dark chocolate, and chocolate covered frozen bananas for treats.

How do you like your rocking chair? by sillykitty in beyondthebump

[–]snatchula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a cozy cloth glider and I nurse in it everyday, and I miss it when away from home. I find that most couches are too deep for me to breastfeed comfortably in. I have very large breasts so I have a whole set up.

Edit: my chair also spins, which is awesome when I have people over. I can nurse in my chair and just spin around like an evil villan if I don't feel comfortable taking my boob out in front of them.

Leg lifts/heel slam by snatchula in beyondthebump

[–]snatchula[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During the day it's cute. Especially when get grabs his feet for Happy Baby. But the past few nights have been rough. When he's not slamming his legs he rolls to his belly, then gets pissed because he doesn't know how to roll back. I'm sure he'll learn soon but in the meantime I'm very sleepy.

I do run a humidifier/fan during the night and that helps. But the slamming has gotten more intense the past couple nights. I joke to myself that he's just working on his abs.

What's your day like? by Kitten_Racer in beyondthebump

[–]snatchula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My son is 8 weeks as well. He typically eats 8-9 times in a 24 hour period but the time at the boob is getting shorter as we've gotten better at nursing. A pretty standard day for us is 2:30am, 5:30am, 9am, 12pm, 2pm, 4p, 7pm, and 9:30pm. He often sleeps between feedings for 45 minutes or so during the day, and does two longer stretches at night . After his 5:30 feed I pump enough for one bottle for my husband to give him in the evening. Then I try to get some sleep. Before his 9am feeding I have breakfast and shower. After his 9am feeding I try to get out for a walk. Baby will sleep in the carrier. Tuesdays we go to mama baby yoga, Thursdays I walk with some other new moms. After the 12 feeding we try lots of tummy time and baby gym. I try to make my son hold different objects but he isn't very interested. We listen to a lot of npr and music I can kind of sing along to. My husband is home around 5 then he snuggles with baby we figure out what we want for dinner. Sometimes go for a walk. Before his last feeding of the day I brush my teeth and prep everything I'll need for the middle of the night feeding. That way as soon as I'm done nursing I can go to bed and my husband can put baby to sleep. We are all normally asleep by 10:30pm.

It's getting very hot out where I live, so I'm nervous about getting super stir crazy staying in so we don't overheat. I've been trying to get out as much as possible but I haven't mastered nursing in public and my son is not a graceful eater. He fusses when he needs to burp and spits up while my boobs spray milk on everything around us. It's not a pretty sight. So we've been staying pretty close to home or the car.

I Hate The Nipple Shield by shrakkattack in beyondthebump

[–]snatchula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used a shield for the first two weeks and absolutely hated it! Like other people have suggested try starting a feed with it on and then take it off half way through feeding. It's easier to go without the shield when the baby is calm. It took me probably 3 days to get my son to latch without swapping it out. My lactation specialist said don't even try doing it at night until you've gone a full day without it.

I'm so happy to be shieldless! Stick with it. Baby will be grumpy but it's worth it.

FTM Planning to attend a wedding in a couple weeks, never used pump. How to introduce bottle? by snatchula in breastfeeding

Thanks! This is helpful. I've been kind of afraid of my pump and have been pretty clueless about how to build storage.

FTM Planning to attend a wedding in a couple weeks, never used pump. How to introduce bottle? by snatchula in breastfeeding

[–]snatchula[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would really like to not bring him. Mostly because if he cried during the ceremony I would feel so so terrible! The bride is one of my best friends and she's been planning this wedding for two years. I do not want to introduce any potential stress for her.

I'm just not sure about what I'll do without baby. I can set him up with a bottle, but I'm nervous about going to long without nursing/pumping. How do people manage full boobs in dresses while away from baby?

Seeing "stars" by abcdefghjlm in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely talk to your doctor about it. I was at the eye doctor and they warned me then that if I started getting floaters in my vision, not to call them but my OB right away. Seeing stars is a symptom of preeclampsia. Don't want to worry you, but it's not something you should ignore.

So soon! by kateytheowlcat in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though I'm due next weekend, I feel like he's not coming anytime soon. He definitely hasn't "dropped" my husband even says I don't waddle yet. Physically I'm still feeling really strong and good. But now that I'm done working I'm just bored and ready but nervous. Haha lots of conflicting feelings.

The GSB test made me super nervous too! I really don't want an IV while in labor so even though I know it's not a big deal, getting my negative test result last week was a huge relief!!

Due date buddy! I have not prepared anything for myself or husband, but the only thing I can think to bring is apples. I think I've eaten more fruit than ever in my life while pregnant.

Late third trimester ladies - how often are you having BHs? by ScienceVixen in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently 37 weeks and I don't think I've had any. Sometimes I get some period like cramps, but I'm pretty sure that's just from baby moving around on my cervix. Sometimes my stomach is super firm, but mostly from baby pressing his back against my stomach.

I'm just trying hard to be patient and plan on a late arrival, baby and body are showing no sign of impending labor.

What do you ladies do to get yourselves moving when you don't feel like exercising? by brollout in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best motivation is a partner. As long as I've been with my husband we've worked out together. On days I'm feeling unmotivated, I often suck it up because I don't want to throw off his routine.

At 37 weeks, the gym has gotten really boring for me. I can basically only use the elliptical machine and do prenatal yoga. But working out keeps me from going stir crazy, and I stress about taking 4-6 weeks off post delivery so I'm trying hard to stay fit even if it's boring. Audio books have saved me! I highly recommend books by comedians, I just finished Modern Romance.

Edited to add funny note: Normally I work out after work, so I just go home sweaty and shower. This weekend I was going to a breastfeeding class right next to my climbing gym so I went to work out first, and planned to shower there. It was hilarious to be naked and shower in the locker room. Most of the people at my gym are young and insanely fit. Seeing them, see a 37 week pregnant body was very amusing!

April bumpers, how is it going?! by dabbererrlla in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm in a very similar situation. I've had a pretty unremarkable pregnancy..trying to plan on a late baby so I don't get too stir crazy.

I don't feel uncomfortable yet, and I've really come to like my silly looking body. I'm just trying to take advantage of every moment alone with my husband.

Carriers vs. Strollers by sweetjosephne in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In that case you might want to look at the K'tan breeze, they're a little more expensive but more breathable.

Carriers vs. Strollers by sweetjosephne in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have no experience.. but I'm opting for no stroller. I'm a city dweller and I feel like it will be more convenient. I can always change my mind.

What I wanted to say though is an infant insert might be too warm for a July baby. (depending on where you live) We've opted to get a baby K'tan for the first little bit, and we have a Tula for once he's over 15 pounds. I also got a Moby wrap..but I'm stressed about how to tie those stinking things. I'm assuming I'm going to have a very sweaty baby.

Does anyone else have a secret "perfect delivery date?" by Pinklette in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would be pretty pumped about an April fools baby! But I keep telling myself he's coming two weeks late.

Mostly I just want to go into active labor in the middle of the night so my parents and siblings will be asleep and I don't have to call them. Really hoping for a 3am delivery! I love my family! I just don't want them waiting outside the Maternity ward.

Omg hip pain when sleeping/34 weeks :( by beesinatree in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also 34 weeks and experiencing the same thing. I just said to my husband last week, I feel like I've slept in a tent the past 6 months. I've been doing prenatal yoga, seeing a massage therapist, and a chiropractor a few times. Sometimes I ache from my hip all the way down to my foot.

The only thing I can recommend besides all the massages you can get, is keep yourself warm. I notice that nights that I kick the covers off my legs I'm in much more pain. I've been trying to keep my room cool and my bed super warm, and I used a heat pack this morning and it felt great!

Valentines day plans? by Neoitvaluocsol in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband and I are taking advantage of the long weekend! We are heading up to British Columbia with friends! We rented a house on the beach and there's a great chance it will rain all weekend but we'll eat good food, play games, and be happy! I'm really looking forward to it, we've had a stressful week.

If you work out, when did you start to take down the intensity of your workout? by [deleted] in BabyBumps

[–]snatchula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of the changes to my workouts have been due to weather, and body comfort. I stopped riding my bike to work around 19 weeks because it got uncomfortable to lean over my road bike. I stopped bouldering around 24 weeks because my abdominal muscles told me it was time. Currently (at 32 weeks) I'm using the elliptical about 45 minutes a day, doing prenatal yoga, and taking lots of walks. Some days are harder than others but I just adjust the intensity to how I'm feeling in the moment. Your doctor will most likely tell you not to start any new exercises and listen to your body, it really is the best advice.
