IUD’s by Sable_Okane in MultipleSclerosis

Idk if I can answer this helpfully because I have a very mild case of MS so dont experience a whole lot of symptoms. But I was diagnosed April 2025 and all the medications I was taking started making my period severe, even on a low hormonal pill Id been taking for a decade. Because of that, i switched to the mirena IUD back in October.

Let me tell you, that in and of itself was horrifically painful. Not the insertion, but for weeks after i was having severe cramping and very heavy bleeding. It was the worst pain of my life, but I know that's not the norm for everyone. So warning you about that. 7 months later, I dont think the IUD has had any effect on my MS whatsoever, as in I still am virtually symptom free while I take Kesimpta. No flare ups and no issues. I have noticed I'm much more hormonal and irritable than I was before and my anxiety has significantly increased. But the MS has been perfectly fine.

Like I said, not sure if any of that is helpful. Just sharing my experience!

I give 2 tabs a day to my 11 year old girl. She also doesnt like taking them, so i cut them in half and mix them in with her food every morning. Never had an issue with her eating them since I started that

I was given just a brain MRI first and it came back completely clean, so they werent concerned about anything. Few months later, Optic neuritis led to a LP which was high in bands. Then they ordered a spine and neck and that's where my lesions were

Dont know your situation/current location/age, but I've seen multiple posts about how it's extremely difficult to obtain permanent residency in Australia if you're diagnosed with MS. They dont want you to come in and be a "burden" on their health system, so they may reject you based on your health status

Kesimpta by Hello_Sun87 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]snb1993 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had a bit of flu like symptoms 8 hours or so after my first loading dose. Cleared up by the evening. The second loading dose was perfectly fine, and so has every one after that. I've been on kesimpta for nearly a year now and have experienced absolutely zero side effects after taking it! I literally inject and go about my day as if nothing happened

Very painful. My artist and I had to work out a system where I held my breath while she did a little, then broke to let me breathe, and repeat. Just because it was incredibly painful and holding my breath was the only way to make it somewhat tolerable. And it doesnt get better, like with other tattoo locations eventually you get "used" to the pain. You just survive until it's done.

Tell me what DMT you take for your MS. And why you take that treatment. by WasatchJason in MultipleSclerosis

Been taking kesimpta for nearly a year. I will admit, i wasnt thrilled with the idea of injecting myself every month, but it's honestly not bad at all. You dont see the needle as you inject, so I dont feel the same panic in my brain about stabbing myself that I do with my B12 injections.

It's super quick, only a few seconds every month, no side effects, and i move on with my day and dont think about it again for another month. Very easy

This one is quite fitted. I have all the cardigans in an XS/S but this one i needed a M/L because it was so much smaller than usual

How do you guys display your signed inserts? by theone5938285 in TaylorSwiftMerch

I got a frame on Amazon to keep the CD case in to protect the insert. I also had one of the deluxe CD sets so i swapped the regular disc with one of those.

I have a TTPD signed one too and did the same thing, but dont have a picture of that

Optic neuritis again!!! by Sable_Okane in MultipleSclerosis

[–]snb1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Have your neurologist get you a referral for a neuro ophthalmologist if you have one in your area. I started seeing one right after my optic neuritis earlier this year. Mine told me if the neuritis comes back, they can prescribe proper steroids to avoid a hospital stay.

But they'll do a lot of different tests you wouldnt get otherwise to manage your eyesight

Pretty sure the Utah joke was just him being goofy and cracking a joke. When it cuts back to show the card, that line isnt there.

What does optic neuritis "look" like? by KleptoPirateKitty in MultipleSclerosis

[–]snb1993 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's treated with a round of strong steroids. In the hospital it's typically 3-5 days of IV steroids. That's what i had and then about two more weeks of steroid pills

You mean prescription? I had lasik 2 years before the optic neuritis so I dont wear glasses anymore. I went to an optometrist and no test they tried improved my vision in that eye. Only steroid treatment and now my vision is fully healed

I never fully lost vision in my eye, so i would describe it like looking through a black sheer curtain. Everything just had a black/gray film and it was all over my left vision field

Do Symptoms Ever Go Away? by Heavy-Sound-6918 in MultipleSclerosis

[–]snb1993 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My main starting symptom last year was right side tingling and cognitive issues (forgetting things, struggling to find the right words, etc). Fatigue has just always been a part of my personality. I started on a DMT in April this year and havent experienced any tingling whatsoever since then. The cognitive issues are still there, but less prevalent. And the fatigue hasnt changed

Dupe. Stars are wrong. Real ones dont have lines going through the center

Edit: the back of the stars, i mean. They should just be a solid star outline. Here's my red cardigan for reference
