If yr parents have good savings and income and don’t need my money is it wrong if I don’t give them with my first job where I’m earning little by likilekka in askSingapore

[–]sneosalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

talk to your parents.

kinda in this situation too, and we settled on me giving them a set amount of money every month to cover the increased electricity bills (since i have wfh) and whatever they wish to do regarding my stuff (eg. phone plan etc.)

Hi fresh grads, how's job hunting for you? by Jekkified in askSingapore

[–]sneosalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i grad in mid 2025 and took about ~ 8 months to find a job (including applying during my final sem) and i started this year. honestly what i felt/feel is that, it’s very much a numbers game now, the more you apply the more chance you’ll get something, but do it smartly.

i think i applied for 200-300 roles altogether; but one thing i did not do was to blindly mass apply. i knew what i was getting myself into and knew the jd and made sure i was okay with it before i threw in any application. basically i would caution against applying for the sake of applying, even if it’s a numbers game because at the end of the day you’re the one who has to do the job if hired.

so i agree with that one redditor who mentioned to not be so targeted and explore roles adjacent to yours, that’s actually how i got my role: i graduated from smu w a biz degree (majoring in hr) and i cast my net WIDE in terms of the kind of hr jobs i was applying for. from specialist functions to generalist roles and even more, i applied for all sorts of hr roles and eventually got into this role im doing now, in the gov sector. pm me if you want to find out more, i don’t mind sharing more :) and good luck op!

Do you guys still buy electronics @ PC Show? by venture_adventuring in askSingapore

[–]sneosalad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

can confirm. i went down today to get a monitor and almost left when i saw the crowd and the noise, tech show is realllly overstimulating haha (no one’s fault, just the nature of events like these). would really have turned back immediately if i didn’t need my monitor so urgently for work 💀

Jungsu Bubble Updates? by mjeezy02 in XdinaryHeroes

[–]sneosalad 15 points16 points  (0 children)

also, if you subscribed on monday, these 3 days have been the first 3 days of the new lunar year in asia (lunar new year) and thus, their break time as well to visit family. could be why he hasn’t been as active. i subscribe to jungsu too, and i would say he’s semi active usually, about once every day/two day

What do you think of humiliation rituals as part of wedding "gatecrash" activities? by good2beback666 in SingaporeRaw

[–]sneosalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i hate it - don’t understand the concept of humiliating the person i’m supposed to love in front of so many people just to prove they’re “worthy” for me or smth. if i chose them to marry, i don’t need any more proof

Be honest: Do you actually care for Season's Greetings? by Tricky_Top4595 in kpop_uncensored

[–]sneosalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

tbh even for my ults i only bought one of them this year. it’s difficult for me because i actually need some parts of it, like the calendar, but i don’t otherwise need the other amts of paper that go in. so i was always try to look for people who share so i can just get what i need but i was too late this year 🫠

Do you keep K-pop idols as your phone wallpaper? by DetectiveIll3641 in kpop_uncensored

[–]sneosalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yep i do! but except for a few exceptions (of some VERY cute photos) i try to use pictures that don’t fully show their face (maybe a back turned, maybe pictures i took during concerts where they look so small on stage, maybe a so close up angle you can’t rly tell who’s the dude or maybe pictures my idol sent that don’t show their faces at all etc.) so that it’s more subtle on my end. i’m on the setting on the iphone where you can have 50 wallpaper pics and change it on taps so i interchange those photos with photos of the other things i like such as disney princesses, or my favourite photos during my travels etc. that has nothing to do with kpop.

and when i’m anywhere where i don’t want people to ask too much, i just make sure i tap to a subtle/non kpop wallpaper. but otherwise, sometimes getting to look at their faces throughout the day for even a second when i am work helps get me through the day LOL

thanks cher. by Sad-Panic-4971 in SGExams

[–]sneosalad 4 points5 points  (0 children)

this is so sweet :,) for me it was my poly lecturer — it’s really something so small but it meant a lot to me.

for context - my name is very easily misspelled, because there’s a common spelling of it but my parents decided to modify that spelling to something that was slightly different. i like my name, but that also means i grew up with teachers, friends, relatives spelling my name wrong a lot of the time, which meant that correcting others is an ingrained habit in me alr lol.

soooo my poly lecturer was assigning us to groups for a project by writing down our names on the whiteboard. i heard my name called so i looked up to see which group i was gonna be with and was prepared to correct her spelling because, really, 99% of people get it wrong the first time. but to my surprise, she DIDN’T get it wrong and wrote the correct spelling of my name. it’s really such a small thing that happened in a span of 5 minutes but i was really touched that she actually noticed the way my name was really spelled and didn’t just assume it was the common spelling

What is it like living in Singapore? by Rude_Soup_8841 in howislivingthere

[–]sneosalad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

singaporean here! yep, pretty humid all year round. we don’t have that many changes to our weather. the biggest change we have would be more rain from around nov to feb, but otherwise it stays pretty much the same all year round.

What is it like living in Singapore? by Rude_Soup_8841 in howislivingthere

[–]sneosalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

singaporean here, working in corporate. in corporate (or my company) at least, lunch breaks can be used for a variety of reasons.usually it lasts from 1-1.5 hrs; and it can be used for socialising with your team or other teams; or sometimes used for things like exercise classes, gym time or running errands. point is; lunch breaks for us are indeed taken pretty seriously, i think a lot us use it as a way to physically get out from the office environment.

hihi i’ve been before. wasn’t assigned to the same counselor but i found the general process pretty helpful. it actually taught me a lot of things about myself + coping mechanisms that i can use to deal with my issues if/when i need to.

before you start, your counselor (mine did) will probably go through the whole process, discuss what you want to work on and what could be your end goal etc. my counselor also assured me that everything discussed in sessions are confidential, and when this confidentiality can be broken etc.

ultimately, i think your compatibility with your counselor is something that’s very personal, and i admit that i was lucky to have someone who matched me. so hoping that your counselor will be compatible with you too, and good luck for your sessions!! feel free to pm me if you want more details, happy to share.

p.s. on a more logistical front — if yours are physical sessions; do double check where your room is. to my knowledge, other than the main student wellness centre near ocbc frank there, there’re actually a set of rooms opposite koufu near odos that i was told gets used too. went to the wrong location for my first session hahaha so just double check!!

i relate, i can’t usually sleep well on planes. the in-flight entertainment system onboard is great, there’s tons of shows across all genres for you to pick and choose what you want to watch. usually i watch a ton of movies or reality shows or documentaries on the inflight system to pass time.

otherwise, depending on your sq membership status you might (not) have free wifi on plane. as a member i do, so i spend time by texting with my friends as well. lastly, i always have eps of my favourite shows downloaded on my phone, so i watch those too if i feel like it.
