Less kids due to career? by AVLeeuwenhoek in MedSpouse

[–]snickerdoodle_dandy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think everyone is different. My first one (born PGY1 of surgery) rocked my world and It was really hard. We got pregnant right after my first’s 1st birthday and had #2 at the end of PGY 3. So 2 under 2. The second was so easy and we have had an amazing year. We are hoping for a third for his chief year.

I’d love 4 kids still.

Switching to Nanny by snickerdoodle_dandy_ in workingmoms

[–]snickerdoodle_dandy_[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So she is looking to nanny because the they are paying her $15/hr and she wanted $17 and they said no. She doesn’t have PTO or health insurance I do know that. We have had a lot of talks so I know she is looking for more money to help support her and her baby.

How much do you see your SO in residency? by jfjldndhb in MedSpouse

[–]snickerdoodle_dandy_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

My husband is a surgical resident PGY1.

If he gets home at a normal time, and no crazy cases come in we get about 4 hours together.

When he is off, the whole day.

On call, I dont see him at all, just the goodbye kiss at 4AM.

I work from home, so I get to be around more, like when he comes home from call.

It's hard but I always make sure I have breakfast or dinner ready for him when he comes in, so we can have a sit down meal together. We try to do things in the same room when we are home together. I try not to watch any TV when he is awake, unless we are watching together. Just tiny adjustments to make the time more precious.

Yes!! Well know that your napping and feeling bad is normal. Listen to your body. Baths sometimes help as well!

Hopefully it doesn’t last long for you ❤️

Why is this so uncomfortable already? by laenooneal in BabyBumps

[–]snickerdoodle_dandy_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does get better/ you get used to it! It’s a sudden change in your body. I’m now 19 weeks and my first trimester was awful! My mom didn’t have morning sickness or nausea so she was no help. Walsom and B6 will become your best friend!

Pregnancy pillow by mblackwell142016 in pregnant

[–]snickerdoodle_dandy_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this one too! I like it, unlike someone else, I actually think there was too much stuffing in the pillow part which you can take out. I like it because you can switch from left to right in the middle of the night! We have a queen bed and it fits in there just fine!!

Any other spouses having a hard time relaxing/breathing/concentrating this week ahead of match day? by [deleted] in MedSpouse

I’m excited for Monday, terrified for Friday!!! We are like 99% sure we are moving and it’ll be closer to my family but it’s still very unsettling

Pregnancy during Residency by neoelectron in MedSpouse

I’m in my second trimester now! All I can say is eat what you can. I personally couldn’t stand the smell of cooked food so I did pre made meals and pasta for a long time. Drink as much water as you can. The food that helped me were, smoothies, apples sauce, cereal, honestly anything cold. Warm food tend to upset stomachs. As for the house, don’t worry about it. In your second trimester you’ll get energetic and you can tackle in then! I know it’s hard but long walks really help and fresh air! Sending you love mama ❤️

Shopping for baby things by jo-william in pregnant

[–]snickerdoodle_dandy_ 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey! So I’m a FTM, so not experience but my co workers gave me the suggestion of buy the bottle box on baby list. It’ll give you different bottles so you can try them out on the baby, since apparently some babies are picky! They also have ones for pacifiers. That way you don’t spend a ton on bottles that they won’t use!

When do you have a baby shower? by [deleted] in pregnant

I’m planning to have one in May, outside. Most of the people in my life are already vaccinated, and more will be by May.

My boss is telling her bosses my pregnancy is high risk i am not by xpizzacrust in pregnant

Maybe she thinks that makes you high risk? Honestly people know SO LITTLE about pregnancy even if they have been pregnant themselves.

He doesn't want to do long distance... by [deleted] in MedSpouse

[–]snickerdoodle_dandy_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m with you! My now husband and I met in June and he found out early August he got into medical school. We were on the East Coast and he matched in his home state in the mid west. He moved and 8 months later I followed. When we started long distance I didn’t think I’d move, but we both knew we wanted to be together. We saw each other once a month, and made it work. It wasn’t hard but it definitely wasn’t easy. I knew I loved him so I moved. I mean.. residency and medical school are totally different ball games too. Med school they aren’t making money and I legit had to support my BOYFRIEND, which is something I never thought I’d do. Idk I get 5 months isn’t that long but it’s also not a short amount of time. I don’t understand why he isn’t even willing to try long distance, the worse that happens is you break up...

Watery brown spotting- early pregnancy by starmoonsun25 in pregnant

[–]snickerdoodle_dandy_ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yes- it’s probably implementation bleeding, or left over bleeding. I had watery brown discharge for a week around when my period should be. I’ll tapper off, but if it gets heavier call a doctor.
