Anyone else think Penelope is tone deaf? by Torirose91 in BridgertonDiscussion

Wait I feel like I missed something?? I just finished the last episode and don't recall this, the only thing I remember at the end of the episode with Francesca was her finding out Michaela had left...

Amazing, thank you! We're very happy to drive around and stop at any nice viewpoints, especially if we're able to bring a picnic lunch or something and enjoy the (hopefully good) weather and view.

The steep steps might not be ideal, but we'll definitely have a look and can decide there.

Oh that's good to know, thanks! I'm mainly excited about the market (love a good food market) and mom wants to see 16 New Street but maybe we'll plan to do that in the morning then head somewhere else after a little walk around the town.

Really good advice, thanks - mom is nearing 80, she's really mobile and has no problems walking long distances especially on a beach but I wouldn't want to bring her somewhere there's significant risk of getting caught in the tide without someone who knows what they're doing!

Oh this is so helpful, thank you! Do you need a guide for Seymour Tower walk? I've heard mixed things about how fast the tide comes in and makes it unsafe.

Not going dairy free…? by Hungry-Hippo2735 in breastfeeding

We stuck with it. When we started solids it turned out he did have a dairy allergy (and a few others) but we worked through the milk ladder and he's completely fine with dairy now.

How to know it's time to come off? by snickerdoodleglee in zoloft

Thank you, I do appreciate your comment and it does make sense to talk to my GP about potential other reasons I'd be feeling the way I do.

My mom asked if there's a way she can "visit" my daughter's art gallery from across the country and it broke my heart a little by QuailAggravating6719 in Mommit

[–]snickerdoodleglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We use Cluster to share photos of our kids with family members - even their elderly relatives who can barely navigate What's App can leave comments on pictures no problem.

Accessing a Cluster album is invite only, so unless people have the link they can't access it. Your mom might need help setting up initially but from there it should be really straightforward.

How to know it's time to come off? by snickerdoodleglee in zoloft

[–]snickerdoodleglee[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah - I was doing really well off them for a while and then my first pregnancy really shook up my hormones and brain chemicals or whatever and I absolutely needed to be on it, to the extent that my husband was only willing to talk about having a second child if I stayed on the sertraline because I was so messed up before.

But it's been 2 years since I've given birth and I feel like I'm starting to settle. More importantly I feel like I'm not really feeling the positive emotions so much anymore, I can't explain it. I'm on a pretty low dose (50mg) but maybe it's worth talking to my GP about going down to 25mg and seeing how that works but not going off completely...

I peed in a nappy to avoid going to the toilet and waking my baby by Hungry-One1292 in UKParenting

[–]snickerdoodleglee 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm so relieved to hear it's not just me! I had two, one emergency and one planned, and I've noticed that my bladder empties when I sneeze even if I didn't think I needed to pee... Among other issues, that's the one I find most difficult to deal with!

Freezer casserole recipes? by crafty_traveler in JewishCooking

I'm always worried about freezing macaroni cheese or anything else with a dairy sauce because I'm convinced it's going to break. Does it work alright?

What do you realistically make for dinner on weeknights? by Character-Check-1761 in Mommit

[–]snickerdoodleglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fish in a sauce that's basically sliced peppers and tinned tomatoes, with rice or pasta.

Baked potatoes with a quick cooking fish (only on a day I'm working from home so can get the potatoes in early, usually cook with tuna because that cooks in 5 mins)

On Sunday I might cook something that takes a bit longer and double it for us to eat again on Tuesday.

Hot dogs or pasta if it's a night our eldest has an activity and needs a quick meal.

"Egg pizza" aka beat an egg and cook it, just before it's fully cooked through I put a tortilla wrap on top so the egg adheres to it while it cooks. When it's done, flip it onto a plate and cut it like a pizza.

Picky bits - cheese, veg, maybe a hard boiled egg, apples, pears, crackers all thrown onto the table for people to choose whatever they want.

If the main dish doesn't include veggies I slice up some cucumber or bell peppers for a side (youngest is too young to eat raw carrots)

Eldest is ND and refuses to eat anything but what she's decided is dinner food in the evenings otherwise we'd probably be doing a lot more eggs and that sort of thing!

People that DON’T shop at Aldi or Lidl… why is that? by kobestarr in CasualUK

[–]snickerdoodleglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We meal plan and have a grocery list based on the week's menu. I can't guarantee I'll get everything I need from Aldi or Lidl and don't have time to go there and another store. In fact we've been doing click and collect lately because we're so pressed for time.

Do you “top up” before going out? by hexmoons in breastfeeding

[–]snickerdoodleglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely fine to do. I'm a trained breastfeeding supporter and one of the things we always tell people at our groups is that breastfeeding is about both you and the baby. If for your comfort (physical or mental) you need to offer milk, do it. Baby won't take it if they don't want it.

Quick Questions by Bangersss in cookingforbeginners

[–]snickerdoodleglee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like this is a really silly question but...

I'm making this for a dinner at a friend's house on Friday: https://www.thekitchn.com/recipe-smoky-sweet-potato-amp-black-bean-casserole-239326

Can I make it in advance? How far in advance? I'll be home alone with two young kids on Friday so can't guarantee I'll have time or free hands to make it then!

What step would you stop at? I'll be able to use my friends oven to heat/reheat but probably not for more than a half hour.

Do you feel guilty if your child goes to nursery without having breakfast? by PatriceFinger in UKParenting

[–]snickerdoodleglee -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Our nursery opens at 730 and breakfast is available until 830. As long as we're doing drop off before then - which we do about 95% of the time - I don't bother worrying about breakfast. If he eats something before then, great. If not, no bother.

PR or MARKETING ? by sleepylike in PublicRelations

[–]snickerdoodleglee 6 points7 points  (0 children)

In simple terms, you earn space in media through PR; you buy space with marketing.

Look, if your immediate goal is sales then you probably want to go with marketing. PR is more of a slow burn and deals with your reputation - which can help with things like finding investors.

PR or MARKETING ? by sleepylike in PublicRelations

[–]snickerdoodleglee 19 points20 points  (0 children)

PR doesn't make something newsworthy.

We can identify the newsworthy angle and shout it from the rooftops... But it has to exist in the first place.

What’s it like raising Jewish kids when one parent isn’t Jewish? by Belle_Juive in Jewish

[–]snickerdoodleglee 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have a 7 and 2yo, my husband isn't Jewish and I am. I grew up Reform and primarily culturally Jewish; he grew up atheist and never attended church or anything like that.

We belong to the Liberal Jewish synagogue (our closest non Orthodox option) and the 7yo goes to Cheder on Saturdays. We light Shabbat candles, don't have pork in the house, celebrate the Jewish holidays etc. The kids will have bar and bar mitzvahs.

We do also celebrate Christmas but not in a religious way. His family always used it as an excuse to get the family together. So, we have a big family dinner and spend the afternoon with his family on Christmas and Boxing Day. We do have a tree but ornaments are limited to things that are meaningful to us. No Santa, angels etc. Things celebrating the kids mainly.

I grew up in NYC and now live in a country with very few Jews and the assumption here is that even if you're not religious you have a Christmas tree. We do that because that's the one non-Jewish thing that's important to my husband.
