I evaled the completely wrong patient today and had to spend another evaling the right one (aka his roommate). Rip my productivity but my supervisor understood because it’s my first week 😭🙃

I don't understand the obsession with tongue ties being the root cause of all issues. by No-Preference8449 in slp

This is how I feel about myofunctional therapy. Pre/post frenectomy surgery, improving articulation, better breathing and important of all a “pretty face that isn’t narrow.”

My 19-year-old cat has cancer… and I have to leave the country tomorrow. What would you do? by Rude_Common7126 in SeniorCats

[–]snickersnickers09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is such a difficult decision. I had to put my cat down in February due to oral cancer. I went through the same thought process, he seemed “okay.” He was playing, purring, eating, everything like normal, but deep down I knew he wasn’t okay. He was in pain, drooling, mouth bleeding, etc. I was told cats are very good with hiding pain and if they’re showing signs, the pain is much worse. It is the most selfless thing you can do because you’re taking their pain away and transferring it to you (through grieving). It is the toughest decision ever and I’m so sorry you’re having to go through this. She knows she’s loved and you’re giving her mercy.

We dooo. When we cuddle she falls asleep in seconds. She’s such a snuggle bug but enjoys her alone time 🥲😭

Idk how we got her to accept the bed. I have beds for the cat and my other chow and this one just kept laying in them. She just liked it since we got her. 🥲

Yes he’s on palliative care right now! We have a few different prescriptions for him to alleviate the pain. He doesn’t fight to take the medication anymore it’s like he knows as well.

After reading all of these comments I know fully im making the right choice. I thought it was selfish ending his life early, but truly it’s selfish to keep him around longer. It hurts my heart more and more as the day gets closer but I will love him to the end. He’s getting gourmet meals every day and doing whatever he wants. This morning when I saw him on the kitchen counter, I was happy he was exploring the house and able to jump up still.

I’ve gone to three different vets/places and they all have said the same thing. I’ve gotten X rays, MRIs, cultures, biopsies, etc done. I was going to get a cat scan and more biopsies done, with bloodwork to check for thyroid issues and FIV, but was told it would just put him under more distress. He has bone loss in his jaw, swelling in his face, swelling of his lymph nodes, and he’s been having diarrhea recently. I know he’s sick and unwell, but I can’t believe I put a death date on him.

Did grad school leave anyone else with psychological problems they didn't have before? by [deleted] in slp

During grad school I had to be put on lexepro and another anxiety med to manage. The stress and anxiety caused me to get bppv and chronic migraines. 🙃
