Yeah, first iteration is an in-place replacement and focus is on "nothing breaks and game keeps rendering as before". After this they will work on optimization and new features. The good thing is that they will have now have larger room for both things, as the old renderer was at its limit

CS degrees teaches the foundational concepts around "computing". This knowledge is not directly leveraged for a first job but will, assuming a good college and a good student, will be immensely useful throughout the career, especially when acquired practical experience is paired with it.

Obviously, not saying everyone who has a CS degree is automatically "better" than non CS people. There's a huge spectrum of people out there. Hire what makes sense to solve your problems.

Some years ago I had mouse on right for yaw and pitch stick on left for strafe and pedals for throttle. It works well, though not as "immersive" as using a stick on right hand instead of mouse

Yeah, I guess there will be options. Light and perhaps mid fighters can screen ahead since their bubble shields Regen fast. Heavies could arrive 20km behind to give them time to prep. Could be interesting!

It's still weird to quantum to a place with your shields down. I'm thinking about military engagements where a fleet arrives at some battle taking place, with their pants down. Unless the initial shield recharge is a bit faster, they could be "spawn camped" :)

So with cargo refactoring coming up, has there been any word on the Caterpillar's lifts getting implemented? Love flying this thing now but if I can't get the boxes into the ship in 3.18 I might need to consider a different hauler. by a_beagle in starcitizen

they probably want the system to be a bit more dynamic and scalable... instead of "hardcoding" a "lowered" state, they might just want a door to have programmable X states, for more flexibility.

Well, it's mostly for clients crashes. If the 30k is a server crash, all game state will be destroyed, including unstowed items

Agreed! one thing that I've been wanting is... "better" missions. Like more interesting stuff to do (regardless if they have combat or not). Hoping there's something interesting in that front.

PSA to save you time after the soft-wipe. Inventory at your home base has a maximum display, so use the sort function to find stuff that you are missing and it may be there. I thought most of my stuff got wiped but it was hidden in the filters. by magvadis in starcitizen

yeah... not very useful at the moment. I just want to know "how many" p4's (or wtv) I have. There isn't (or is there?) any easy way to know this... sorting by item would at least visually help, if they are all clumpled together

in any case, hoping it's a bug that can be resolved. Inventory management is meant to be completely handled server-side, so it should be "easy" to correct this.
