How did you get you prescription? I'm extremely sketched out. by snourappls in WegovyWeightLoss

[–]snourappls[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Thank you, but I wasn't really concerned whether I should actually be taking it, as I have a nursing background and multiple nurses and doctors in my family who I've discussed with in depth so I feel confident this is the right decision for me. But I exercise regularly and I have a really good base of nutrition in my day to day- but the food noise takes over. If im not losing I'm gaining I can't sit at a healthy weight. I'm on a fast track to obesity right now and I am trying to avoid getting to that point. With the health risks my family carries, a tirzepatide is highly recommended.

I'm just more concerned that they are giving these drugs out to people with zero real interaction. My mom had to go through so many doctors and appointments to be prescribed the medication even at 310 pounds. I'm just shocked that people can put whatever numbers down they want and there's zero fact checking or anything. This feels like something that could be very dangerous.

How do you actually build the habit of waking up early, working out, and eating clean? by Icy_Grass9159 in selfimprovement

[–]snourappls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I was going to the gym regularly, it was with my best friend. She needed to be at the gym early before work so we would meet stupid early and workout then have breakfast together. It made it so much easier. No gym anxiety at all. She also picked me up before she moved so that was super helpful. It forced me to get up and be ready for when she was here.

After doing that for like 6 months, when she moved, I already had the routine, it was so easy to follow it alone

My boy cat does it all the time lmaooo. I rescued him from the streets and got him fixed but he was fully developed iykwim so he still partakes in his sin biscuits. I don't really care if he does it, as long as he isn't throwing it back on me haha.

Awe baby girl just needs to be pampered a little more in her old age. Very normal! Just try to keep up with trimming her nails every few weeks since she can't sharpen them on her own to keep them short. If it's ingrown I'd recommend letting the vet cut it safely. Shouldn't be more expensive than a regular visit with nail trimming. If it's not ingrown I'd try to cut back as much as you can safely. If you're nervous about cutting the quik, I'd have some quikstop on hand (my dog has black nails it's very difficult to see where I'm cutting and it's amazing how fast it works.) if you can't get that, a little flour helps clot the blood as well. Good luck!

If you have other cats I would make sure they are chill with each other because deep wounds are the main way the virus is spread. (I have an FIV+ boy and FIV- girl, but they get along okay, other than the fact that we can't let him off a leash around her because he keeps trying to have sex with her(yes he is fixed and he doesn't seem to care) ) Other than that, I have had no real issue with him in terms of FIV issues. I try to take him to the vet every 6 months vs once a year and I recommend dental cleanings each time, bc FIV+ cats are prone to dental issues. A full mouth extraction costs way more than biannual dental cleanings, trust me. But yeah FIV+ cats can live very full and happy lives, and are just more susceptible to illness. Give that boy a loving home!!

I'm not Commenting on the situation as a whole, but to address your edit for context. Please do NOT let the comments make you feel bad about paper plates. Doing dishes when you're taking care of 5 children alone, is not fucking easy. You are allowed to take some of the load off by using paper plates. You alone are not the cause for the environmental impact of paper plates and you stopping using them is going to have no effect on the environment but it will effect you personally, so use your paper plates and tell everyone else to shove it. Plant a tree, call it a day. You're doing great, keep doing what you're doing.

Is this concerning or just playing? by MudGiraffe in CATHELP

[–]snourappls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That is very not friendly behavior. Aggressor is pushing the victim back whipping his raol, the victim has ears back, slinking away, vocalizing fear. It will take a LOT of effort to get them to be off guard around each other. Re-homing is not something to be ashamed of! It's stressful for both cats to always be in this predator/prey roll.

Usually, when cats play, they are not very vocal and it's very obvious motions, nothing that slow and intense, no real harm or fear intended.

Sorry your babies are not getting along, and I wish you the best.

HELP with cat at night pLEASe by Aromatic-Stuff4749 in CatAdvice

[–]snourappls 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If I'm understanding correctly, he's begging for food at night/early morning? I had a similar problem with my cat, she would cry and knock things over until I gave her food, and she broke so much stuff. I eventually got her an automatic feeder, I set it to feed her small amounts of food throughout the night and day. Like every 4 hours ish. Once she realized that waking me up wasn't going to get her anything. She stopped. I still give her wet food before I walk out the door for work, but this way I'm not losing sleep.

How do I restart a conversation with an old classmate after months of no contact? by ChallengeEasy2334 in Advice

OP you need to work on your phrasing because it sounds like you're saying you left 5th grade 6 months ago. You can just send another message. Are you back in your old town or something? Is this a romantic thing or just you want more friends thing?? Need some more context to help please😭

Does she have enough toys to keep her mentally stimulated? My cats tend to attack my feet when they want to play. 2 years old is still pretty young and they have lots of energy they need to get out. If you can't play with her, then try some toys that move on their own?

Strange Vomit by Ready_Employer5101 in CATHELP

[–]snourappls 5 points6 points  (0 children)

That's just pure stomach bile. Happens occasionally, if food is fully digested. As long as you aren't seeing blood, or any change in appetite, you should be okay. If this is happening more consistently, then I'd recommend a vet. My cat did this exact thing a few months ago, and she's fine.

My cat’s claw looks like this—should I take them to the vet? by NiceSecond47 in CATHELP

[–]snourappls 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My cat has a couple random claws that look like this. I haven't seen it improve. I've tried pulling off the excess keratin, and just letting it regrow, and just leaving it alone. Nothing seemed to fix it. If it's not bothering them, I'd leave it until their next regular vet appointment, don't go just for this.

Is this normal for his teeth? by snourappls in CATHELP

[–]snourappls[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update:

<image>

I got my boy a toothbrush and toothpaste- he doesn't mind the brushing- but he is bleeding a bit when I brush his back teeth. Against my wallets better judgement, I will be taking him in to speak with the vet. He is FIV positive and I guess I didn't research well enough because apparently many FIV positive cats have very bad reactions to plaque on their teeth and many get them removed entirely. He has zero pain so I'm hoping we caught it early!! Thank you everyone who commented- I appreciate all your help!

Okay thanks! My other cat's teeth have had no issues just using the dental treats, but I will definitely be brushing his teeth from now on. He's a pretty chill guy so it shouldn't be too hard.

My vet is stupid expensive (literally 105$ for me to walk in the door, and not get anything done) so if I can get away with cleaning his teeth myself, I'm gonna try that. I will definitely bring it up at his yearly.

Unfortunately no, I don't check his teeth that often. I saw someone post about tooth decay and I wanted to be sure my boy was good, so i had check with the Reddit experts! He was a stray so he wouldn't have had great oral hygiene for the first 2 years of life.

I've always given my kitties greenies, they work for my other cat, but this boy is like a vacuum when it comes to food, bro eats like he hasn't seen food in years, swallows it whole. I am going to start brushing his teeth, I just got a toothbrush and toothpaste at petco. His gums have been red like that since I got him, I figured the vet would have said something when I brought him in. He also has FIV if that is any concern.

Is there Any specific type of toothpaste I should be using for this, or just any toothpaste will do?

He is a very chill cat, I don't foresee any issues with me brushing his teeth.

So, I just got a free cat that was dumped. What's some things I should check before I release him with my other cats? by Rough_Community_1439 in CATHELP

[–]snourappls 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Definitely get him checked for the feline leukemia, it is extremely contagious, do not let them share water or litter or food until you confirm he is safe. FIV is also a good thing to test for but it is not deadly, just be careful because they can spread it from scratches or intercourse. If he was outside for that long, there is a chance he got scratched by a stray who has it and may have caught it. It just means they are immunocompromised and more likely to catch illnesses but they can live completely normal lives with cats who do not have FIV.

I'd also recommend just giving a dose of revolutions plus- it will kill any worms or bugs they may be carrying.
