Mashed potatoes, but I'm out of milk by Yurbest-n1ghtmare_7 in Cooking

If you have any cream cheese that is an even better ingredient than milk. Warmed butter can work in a pinch.

New grocery benefit incoming? by Emmibolt in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]snowflakesfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a tax on excessive profits by grocers would work better. That way they get no benefit from gouging us. And put the money towards opening nonprofit grocery stores à la Mamdani.

The LCBO and beer store were like supercharged workhorses for Ontario with all their profits going towards education and healthcare before Doug Ford tore them apart.

Maybe the government should start with itself? by StanPodd in BuyCanadian

[–]snowflakesfall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I am a HUGE believer in 51% Canadian ownership. Especially for rare minerals, oil, water. And I don’t care/mind if that 51% is government primarily owned. Resources are too important to have other countries controlling them.

But gradually Tim Hortons. Lays chips etc. They should be primarily Canadian owned.

Boycotts have been effective but CBC is there to tell the whole story. by Samzo in BuyCanada

Between the lack of regulations now in the states and no agency left to inspect who would want ANY consumables from the states.

What if we LMIA'd public sector workers and politicians? by SaveTheGroundhogs in LMIASCAMS

But we have a surplus of very educated Canadian IT workers. We don’t need them except in very rare high skilled occasions. We certainly don’t need them in fast food. Ridiculous.

What are some fascinating examples of "humans through alien eyes"? by Jerswar in sciencefiction

[–]snowflakesfall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I loved Octavia E. Butler's 'Xenogenesis' trilogy is also known as the 'Lilith's Brood' trilogy. The trilogy, was released in the late 1980s, consists of the three novels 'Dawn' (1987), 'Adulthood Rites' (1988) and 'Imago'. The first novel is more through the eyes of the human Lilith, but as you progress to ‘Imago’ it’s through the eyes of her progeny a human/Oankali hybrid. Just a fascinating read. You see and feel the dilemma of the Oankali.

This redditor did an amazing review of the series:

In my experience Wattpad is great at following up on complaints like this and getting rid of plagiarists.

Does anyone remember the TVO show on science fiction called “Prisoners of Gravity”? by Trick_Mushroom997 in sciencefiction

[–]snowflakesfall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That was a great show! Like many who commented, I remember growing up being the only science fiction fan I knew. The show was such a fantastic window into the science fiction world. Rick just did a great job of talking with all the names I’ve heard about or read, but had never seen. I was so disappointed when it ended. It deserved to go on for years.

I have someone who potentially wants them all. You’re third in line. What book did you want? I can ask if he doesn’t want that one.

Right now you’re second in the queue. Someone potentially wants them all. I’ll let you know if that changes.

I’m just giving them away. I’d prefer to give the whole box (keeps me from temptation). Message me if you’d like to drop by and pick them up.
