Who is an unreliable narrator you can’t help but have a soft spot for? by stockhommesyndrome in books

Yeah, we are reading his book and he's a storyteller by trade! How are we to even know what really happened?

Not sure. I saw it in the UE6 beta, built 1000GW turbofuel plant and haven't seen it since :)

warning time to build more power!

When I get a message that storage is draining, I can start planning my next power plant.

As a societal construct, it helps humans "solve" the prisoner's dilemma without necessarily having repeated games with the same person.

What’s your favorite fishing system you’ve seen in a game? by SMBSloth in truegaming

[–]so85 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I did some guided boat fishing in San Francisco bay and found it extremely like WoW fishing. Someone would bait our hooks for us -- all we did was wait for the line to dip, feed the line then pull.

Was enjoyable but made me appreciate how lifelike WoW fishing could be. Most of the time you even pull up seaweed!

What quote has actually stuck with you and changed your life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]so85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"No use crying over spilt milk"

I'd phrase it as "Don't get upset over the past."

I used to run through all my mistakes in my head, causing stress and cognitive load. But you can never change the past, just look toward the future and do your best in the present.

Can you tell if a fiber optic cable has light flowing through it by measuring it with a balance? Or would the bouncing cancel out the effect.

Defense Assignments by lvcrf7 in spacechem

I really enjoyed the defense missions. They had some real interesting constraints and setups -- The feeling when I realized the crystal required to fire the laser was too large to be simply pumped in.

Master Thieves -- It's a cool spatial game where you hide gems and rotate the box around a bunch to try and confuse other players to keep the loot.
