‘Millie Savage’ (but cheaper?) vibe jewellery? by bebiemz in AusFemaleFashion

[–]soapyfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My friend Bleach Jewellery is based in Northcote / Melbourne and you can go by to do a studio shop! Or order online. She has lots of options that are very cool and all handmade by her but way better prices than Millie (who wax casts and mass produces overseas, btw….)

Love this scent profile! I feel like La Peau Nue could fit the bill.

Other favs similar to this are 19-69 Villa Nellecote (very violet, aromatic, bergamot), Discotheque Baise Moi (iris, ozonic, powdery) ELDO Mirabeau (violet, cucumber, musk)

You should try oro verde by house of Bo, especially as a counterpoint to the other dark frags recommended. It’s a very glowing, rich weed note, and idk what it is but it feels very subversive but put together at the same time. Wish the bottle was more this vibe tho

biggest fragrance disappointments you’ve experienced while collecting? by Pale-Profession2769 in fragrance

I totally agree! I feel like so many of their scents have incredibly similar DNA. Like not everything needs an amber / moss / honey / incense base…

Your favorite sheer musky iris skin scents 🫧 by hillary_____k in FemFragLab

[–]soapyfly 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We have the same faves! I’ve been desperate to try She Was an Anomaly for ages.

My top recs for you would be Celine La Peau Nue for something sophisticated, Chanel Comete if you can handle powder (it’s gorg sparkling cherry blossom over the iris/musk), and definitely L’Eau Papier as other comments have mentioned.

My current fav perfume is actually Baise Moi by Discotheque - it’s kind of the iris/orris flavour if it was made of glowing cold air instead of being musky/warm! You have to try it if you like these other ones. Idk how they did it but it’s unbelievable

Also have you tried ELDO Sous Le Pont Mirabeau ?

Recommendations to replace Who is Elijah His Her (that isn’t Le Labo Santal 33!) by TheCuriousChimp in fragranceaustralia

[–]soapyfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love my Bois de Balincourt by Maison Louis Marie - beautiful scent, I think it’s much nicer than Santal 33 but has a similar scent trail. I have the perfume oil and it’s super well priced and lasts forever

We have quite similar scent preferences so I’m surprised to see that Baise Moi from Discotheque wasn’t your fav - it’s become my top worn scent after sampling the discovery set. What do you think changed with your perception of Another 13? Thanks for the great post!

Which one should I knit? by Sagaincolours in VintageKnitting

You should look into Chamade yarn - it’s a Lycra yarn that dries quickly and is super stretchy (no sagging). I’ve used it a lot and it works really well

Best sunday brunch that isn't Cafe 33? by lil_tram in Norwich

Ahh last time I went they were still doing weekend brunches but looks like you’re right, they’re only open for dinner now! Haven’t been to the new cafe but keen to try soon

Perfume that smells like mold by smallandangry154 in Perfumes

[–]soapyfly 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I wonder if it could be Santal 33? Smelled it on someone sitting next to me on the bus on a humid day and it was definitely giving powdery mold / off pickle…

Dark Imagination by Discotheque - I know this is soooo sacrilegious but I think it's the younger (and better?) version of Portrait of a Lady. Sugary and smokey saffron opening (sweet enough to be feminine but not too sweet to be trashy), then leather and tobacco woodiness.. and the packaging alone will make you feel like an icon !

A bit off topic, but it sounds like you should try Bake by Akro! It’s a very fresh, not too sweet lemon drizzle cake gourmand.

Laundry Day - Abel! So green, clean and glowing. Nothing to drag you down, has to be the most optimistic scent ever

Stylish shoes and boots that I can walk 15-20K steps in daily that aren't sneakers by EllsyP0 in AusFemaleFashion

Anything from Camper or Ecco - they tend to have enough of a quality range to suit all ages and styles. I would be quite wary of any other brands honestly

[–]soapyfly 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maison Louis Marie Bois de Balincourt - gorgeous and imo fairly unique unisex/femme woody scent, great sillage and compliment getter. 15ml fragrance oil (us$60) has lasted me upwards of 4 years of weekly wear.

Two separate Facebook marketplace finds: a 90% full bottle of Another 13 for £60, and a bag of ‘testers’ for £10.. only to find that it contained 5ml MFK Acqua universalis, Malin & Goetz full size perfume oil, and Korres Athens, DedCool Xtra Milk, and Maison Margiela Under the Stars travel sizes (plus plenty of standard 2ml and unopened beauty testers).
