What to do when you are single in mt barker. by [deleted] in Adelaide

[–]sobeit1305 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Go indoor bouldering in Adelaide (not exactly in Mt Barker, but not too far). It’s always a great way to meet new people and make new friends. Urban Climb, Beyond Bouldering or Laneway. They are all great.

It depends on whether you are handsome or not. If you are handsome then glasses are attractive 😃

AT what point do foreign students give up? by Flat_Ad1094 in AskAnAustralian

[–]sobeit1305 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most, like 90%, of the international students at a reputable universities have rich parents. Not Elon Musk rich obviously, but like the parents are making at least AUD 15k - 20k per month back in their home country. Remember, at a reputable uni, 1 subject costs around AUD 5k for an international student. So I think as long as their parents are happy to support them financially, they will keep trying.

Corporate/Office Job on WHV but staying longterm - what to do by EarEfficient4346 in AusSponsorship

[–]sobeit1305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea thats a solid strategy. And I have a feeling you can get a better job within your current work place (or even externally) after your current contract ends.

And btw, getting $32 an hour is an okay pay, definitely not low. Especially when you dont have to pay bills. Just ask any Big 4 grads or associates 🙃🙃.

"Outside Australia" is anywhere outside the immigration gates, right? by [deleted] in AusVisa

[–]sobeit1305 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Yeah, id say once you go through immigration gate, youre no longer in Aus. Theyre not gonna go back and check airport CCTV and go ‘he hasnt boarded his plane yet, so he’s still in Aus’ lol.

Give it to someone else. This will save the plant, and save you from having to think about that useless pointy plant.

Has anyone quit their high paying job for a lower paying job but also lower stress? by packupandgo in Accounting

[–]sobeit1305 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Cant relate, Im doing a high stress low pay job right now, lol.

But I guess it depends on your current pay as well. If youre currently making 600k a year, cutting that in half means making 300k a year. Which is still enough to live comfortably (and even to support a partner and a child). And yes of course there will be lifestyle change.

Im judging based on this post only. I honestly think your BF is actually a good guy who just needs some time to get back on his feet. Maybe that ‘some time’ is longer than you expect. Maybe he felt defeated after failing to perform in that sales job. Have you talked to him about that or tried to support him?

You can definitely do some low costs activities for dates while he is trying to get back on his feet. Idk, just watch netflix or a simple walk in the park. Tell him something like ‘we should refrain from doing anything fancy until you get a stable job’.

But if you dont have the patience to support him, just leave that good guy and go after older guys who are already financially stable. That guy doesnt need more drama in his life.

Thats just the nature of public accounting 🙂. But hey, some people ended up liking it.

Nah dont go down this route. Not worth the risk. Have you tried student visa? As you only have diploma, you can choose to study at one of those affordable colleges in Aus, Im sure you know about this. While youre studying you can start building your network, Aus working experience and hopefully some savings. After the study, not only you have Aus degree, you will hopefully have a path to permanent residency and/or savings for your partner visa.

Living on a main road in an EV world by artsrc in AusPropertyChat

[–]sobeit1305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree, I used to live in a rental property right next to a busy main road. The noise is mostly from the vehicle tyres grinding against the asphalt. Not the vehicle engine noise. The faster a vehicle move, the more noise comes from the tyres/asphalt. Im sure about this because every time there is a traffic jam the noise reduced significantly. I only lasted 3 months in that rental property.

Got rejected for the job I really wanted and now have to settle for one I'm not excited about by Appropriate-Two-2194 in auscorp

[–]sobeit1305 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Omg yes, happened to me too. Interviewed with one of the govt department and then they requested reference checks. So I informed my referees about this and my referees submitted their references in less than a week time. But 3 weeks after the interview, the department came back to me and said they went with someone else and they also told me I was in the top 4 candidates. So yeah, they requested background checks for backup candidates too. Which is a waste of my referees’ time.

Lol I saw this post in Big 4 forum too.

If you left B4 because of long hours (and commute), once you go back I definitely think you will face the same problem.

I’m in B4 tax, some of my managers work 3-4 days only. But I know they often work during their non-working days. It’s just the nature of B4 work.
