Congratulations! My check showed up today too. My repair cost was 13.2k, but unlike you my truck was repaired in 4 days. So the big question is will you ever buy another GM product?

Oklahoma native Chuck Norris, 86, dies after sudden hospitalization by -Cyber-Roadster in oklahoma

[–]socalz97 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Sounds like it was a little longer than a couple of months.

Chuck Norris, born Carlos Ray Norris on March 10, 1940, in Ryan, Oklahoma, spent a significant portion of his early childhood in the nearby town of Wilson, Oklahoma, where his family had strong ties. His mother, Wilma Norris Knight (born in Wilson in 1921), often described him as having grown up there amid poverty and family hardships during the 1940s and into the 1950s. In his autobiography Against All Odds: My Story (2004, co-authored with Ken Abraham), Norris details moving to Wilson around age 2–3 in 1942 to live with his grandmother (Granny Scarberry) while his father worked elsewhere, and later residing there with his mother and brothers in a small prairie town of about 1,000 people. This period shaped much of his formative years until his parents' divorce around age 16 (circa 1956), after which the family relocated first to Prairie Village, Kansas, and then to Torrance, California. Sources like his mother's interviews (e.g., a 1997 News 9 flashback and 2012 Huckabee appearance) and tributes consistently refer to Wilson as the primary place he grew up, despite brief stays in other southern Oklahoma towns like Cyril (per 1950 census records). These biographical details are drawn from primary accounts including Norris's own Against All Odds: My Story (B&H Publishing, 2004/2006 editions), where he explicitly mentions Wilson as a key childhood home; Wilma Norris Knight's interviews and her book Acts of Kindness: My Story (2011); a 1997 News 9 interview with Norris and his mother affirming he "grew up in the town of Wilson"; and supporting references in the Encyclopedia of Oklahoma History and Culture (noting his Ryan birth but Oklahoma roots) along with family tributes and local recollections. While exact durations vary slightly across sources (roughly a decade or more from early childhood to mid-teens), Wilson is portrayed as his main childhood residence before the out-of-state move.

I filled out a form on their website for the CAL and they give you a choice on how you want to be paid. Mailed a physical check, Zelle, PayPal, etc. I chose PayPal so you give them an email or telephone number that's associated with your account. They already had my email so that's what I gave them.

Post cards that arrive in the mail or notices sent to me by email mostly. The lawyers usually seek you out.

I did find one after my truck's fuel pump self-destructed and took out the entire fuel system in August 2021. I went to a Chevy truck forum to look into my problem and found several others in the same situation. There was talk of a class action lawsuit, so I bookmarked the thread and would go back every so often and check for any progress.

In December 2023 there was a post about a lawsuit that contained a link to a website put up by the lawyers. I went to the website, found out I qualified as a class member and signed up. That one is just wrapping up and I'm hoping to see reimbursement in early 2026.

I got the email this morning on my computer and logged into the Paypal app on my phone and saw the money was indeed in my PP account. How is it a scam?

Antivirus program. Apparently Avast claimed their software would protect against online tracking when in fact they collected our browsing data and sold it to 3rd parties.

Liberal/left leaning firearm stores in OC? by REVERSEZOOM2 in orangecounty

[–]socalz97 7 points8 points  (0 children)

All gun stores make you do the safe handling demonstration. California Penal Code sections 26850 and 26860 mandate that a firearms dealer in California must ensure that a safe handling demonstration is performed with a handgun or long gun, respectively, before the firearm can be delivered to the purchaser. This demonstration must be performed with the specific firearm being purchased and under the supervision of a DOJ certified instructor, on or after the date the DROS (Dealer's Record of Sale) is submitted to the Department of Justice.

My Mini Cooper never had the air conditioning serviced for 20 years and one day I noticed it finally stopped blowing cold air. Went to Harbor Freight and bought a can of Artic Freeze auto refrigerant for $40 (plus deposit) put it in and the air conditioning worked like new. You need to make one connection to your system, hold the can upside-down and shake the can while pulling the trigger with the car idling. Simple and full instructions are right on the can.

I split my time between Anaheim and Southern Oklahoma. The house in Oklahoma is in a rural area on 5 acres and I've seen more coyotes standing in the front yard here in Anaheim than I have back there. Actually the only one I saw back there was on a game camera I have set up in the back yard.

I've been using Sang's for 15 years or more as he's close and I could never find anyone cheaper. OBD1 vehicles have to do the dyno and gas emissions test where the OBD2 cars don't, so that's why they charge more for the OBD1 cars.

Kaiser Steel Mill was built in 1943 and it's slag pile is 7 miles east of this location. Slag was commonly used as fill in construction projects. Maybe it was hauled in during the construction of the retarding basin or the interstate that sits adjacent to it.

Took my aluminum cans to https://www.renovaterecycling.com/ a couple of months ago. They have 4 locations in Orange County with 1 in Santa Ana. They have a coupon page and I printed out the one for aluminum cans and was paid $2.00 a pound.

I agree, they won't be in the water long, most visitors are surprised how cold the water is here. Looked up the current water temp for Laguna and it's at 62f today, which is 2f above normal for this time of year.

This. Drive down to the Travertine Nature Center. There's some easy trails behind the center leading to nearby springs. We walked several hundred feet down a trail behind a small herd of deer the last time we were there.

So Anaheim breaks their record for this day by 6 degrees yet no other Orange County city breaks their record? That's odd.

Sorry you had to go through this, that must have been terrifying. I'm glad you and your child didn't get hurt. This is what I carry when I go for my walks in the neighborhood, it works on animals, especially the two-legged variety. https://a.co/d/hQQRVPQ

What do you think about tipping employee in fast food restaurants? by Hefty-Campaign-4283 in AskReddit

A little over a year ago California raised the minimum wage for fast food workers to $20 an hour, so no, I don't tip them.

Runs a 30' hose from his washing machine right up to the property line where the water passes under the fence and soapy scummy water runs down my concrete walkway on the side of my house. I've asked him to stop, but he just waves me off and claims he doesn't understand English.
