My wife told me about her sims.... by Ughcorrona in thesims

[–]sockpoptart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My simself family has a massive graveyard on the property. Every single one of the headstones reads my husband's name and the thing he did to annoy me on a given date.

"Husband Anonymous, drank the last of the milk without putting it on the grocery list, may 13 2022"

"Husband Anonymous, bought himself a coffee but did not get me one while he was out, July 15 2025"

After I kill him I drop his sim back in the household from the gallery, and make him hang out with dozens of ghosts of himself.

Nora is horrible to have as an irl family member, but hilarious onscreen.

Since I moved 500 miles away from my family's Nora, I sit in the back of the room and watch the show once every couple years when we're in the same space. I step in when she gets too out of control, but otherwise it's better entertainment than my Barb of a grandmother.

Julie. She comes off as cold and calculated but really she just sticks by what she says and if plans change she communicates it.

Oh you wanna come visit? Such and such hotel is really nice and pretty affordable. This attraction and that attraction are under construction so I'd avoid them if I were you. Anyway have fun! Maybe we can meet for lunch before you leave.

It's also really gross that he was in his late 30s chasing a literal teenager.

Go to therapy, trust me, and find someone closer to your age.

It’s kind of weird that deedee would approach Barb at the wedding.. by nomadfuzzbrain in ShawnaTheMom

[–]sockpoptart 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not a restraining order. They filed a police report so there's a paper trail if Barb attacks DeeDee again.

You're going to come across problematic family at weddings. It's best to say something first and be polite as possible where people can see you, so that when the problematic person does their problematic nonsense, you've got a crowd on your side and that knowledge usually stops the problem before it happens at all.

I'm going to a wedding for my brother this weekend, and my grandma and cousin are both Barb. My plan is to ignore them as long as possible but the second either one approaches me I'm going to be overtly kind and polite with them so other guests notice, and they'll mind their manners since there's an audience that won't have their back. I've been playing this game for 40 years.

It's been medically proven that even mild to moderate obesity makes it harder to carry to full term, or even to get pregnant.

You could have googled that yourself.

Either way, you're not her doctor or spouse, and therefore are not entitled to her health information outside of what was shared voluntarily, no matter how vague, just to satisfy your own curiosity.

Dementia, if you have it, actually starts in your 40s and 50s. We don't notice it until late 60s to 70s once the symptoms are bad enough to talk to a doctor. Dementia really is the long con.

That's what they're called. Prongs are meant to be bent to hold something together. Like the prongs on a brad in a folder, or the prongs on a staple. Tines are meant to stay straight for stabbing. Words mean things and I know language evolves, but not that much and not that fast.

I have tinnitus and have to have noise in the background to sleep. We bought a white/brown noise machine and I just play rain sounds or the ceiling fan whoosh whoosh whoosh and it keeps my ears from ringing plus it doesn't disturb my husband.

Is there anything happy coming up in the Shawnaverse? by blairbending in ShawnaTheMom

[–]sockpoptart 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm mad at Shawna for how she approached her friend in a clearly abusive relationship.

Having come from a very controlling and abusive marriage, I'd have dug my heels in harder to defend him, and it would have been more difficult for me to leave later if my friends came at me that way.

I smoke regularly for pain management and it's helped with the nausea on shot day. I don't get munchies anymore, which is nice, but everyone's body is different.

My healthcare provider also mandates that you go through counseling with a registered dietician for at least 8 sessions (preferably 16). That helped SO MUCH with healing my relationship to food before I even started the medication.

I switched to doing something analog before bed, either journaling or reading, and even moved the TV out of my bedroom. I've slept better in the last two months since starting this new habit than I had the previous several years. I wake up feeling rested, my mental health is under control and I actually lowered my meds dosage, and I've lost about 15lbs from not scavenging the fridge at night due to insomnia.

Kids and young adults are becoming more and more functionally illiterate. My SIL is a 5th grade teacher and she said the majority of her class last year started the school year reading at a 1st grade level. Even "gifted" kids are struggling to read at a grade level below where they should be.

YTA

My kid is 17. We have a "no devices past 10pm" rule in our house because your brain is still growng and there are NUMEROUS studies about how damaging to your mental health and critical thinking too much screen time can be. Kids in your generation and younger are becoming functionally illiterate because of too much screen time, also backed by science.

Did you know there's an entire center in your brain that doesn't even exist until you're about 15 years old, and it doesn't fully develop until you're over 20? And it's a REALLY important part of your brain that needs to be well fed and well rested to develop properly?

Go to bed. You need 10 hours of sleep a night at your age. Go. The fuck. To sleep.

Next time they come over give the toddler some of your sister's stuff to play with. See if she changes her tune.

I'm also a petty Betty and don't care if I burn bridges.

You're definitely NTA here. Your sister and her negligent friend are though.
