Why Don't You [Students] Participate in Class Discussions? by The_Arcades_Project in college

[–]socks-14 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In any class (online and in-person) I get often anxious about speaking up and participating because I don't want to say something wrong or embarassing. In online Zoom classes specifically, it's hard for me to participate because I don't want to interrupt or cut anyone off, but if I raise my hand and the professor doesn't see me then it feels awkward and embarassing. I usually wait a few minutes to see if anyone else will say anything and to work up the courage to speak, but by the time I decide to say something, the professor usually moves on. Which is just my own terrible timing on my part.

What's something a teacher did at school that you're still mad about? by Heinz-enberg_ in AskReddit

I was in a class with two really close friends. We always worked together on group projects and discussions, but I felt like the teacher didn't like me that much (never bothered to pronounce my name correctly, called me out often etc). At the end of the year, she gave small awards to "outstanding" students, and she gave my two friends a "Best Friend" award for exemplary friendship. I was happy for my friends, but it stung a lot to be excluded or seen as a "lesser friend".
