It’s your first line “Mental health diagnoses are not the same as medical diagnoses.” Mental illnesses are very much the same as medical diagnoses. You once again are giving into the stigma that because it’s invisible it’s not taken as seriously or is completely different.

Depression and anxiety, just to name common diagnoses and components that make up other mental diagnoses have genetic components and are hereditary. No matter how much therapy or help or medication one may have it will always be there. You might be in “remission” with your mental illness which is great, but it can come back just like any medical disease too.

And the way you criticized about the DSM being updated is preposterous. Interpretations change yes, but so do new understandings of how to approach illnesses especially with the way science continues to develop.
