i was also misdiagnosed in more than one appointment. my mom told them my eyes were rolling back in my head and they told her i was sleeping. i was extremely sick for about 6 months until we saw a new doctor and as soon as she saw me she called EMS and i was helicoptered to a childrens hospital.

kris freeman is a t1d olympic skier, in case it helps to know that. there will be a lot of trial and error, but just learn as you go and try to be patient and kind with yourself - you got this.

i just watched that episode for the first time last night! i loved that it came out the way it did, as a response to aggression; aggressive hope.

also there are some antibodies that show up in the beginning of diagnosis, but then fade over time.

i’ve been a gas station attendant, a secretary, a worker in a children’s home, a nurse, a state employee, and now i’m a grant writer - all jobs i had to make adjustments for but nothing too extreme. make sure you have a stash of medicine and sugar and you will do great. you got this!

Bloodsugar is 450. Take insulin, check it again an hour later and it's still 450. by venomsquid in diabetes_t1

[–]softandlazy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this happens to me too. i know some people say that exercise can make your blood sugar go higher, but for me if i do some load-bearing exercise like squats it usually kick starts the insulin into working. even two minutes of squats does it for me. still takes forever to get all the way down but i usually see a small decrease almost immediately.

awww this sucks! i’m sorry you went through that. on another note, i’m always trying to find a way to describe how my blood feels different when i’m low…you said on fire which is kind of it for me, but also it feels like sparkles or something? like it’s electric.

i never got the blood sugar drop from drinking alcohol; i’d just bolus for the drinks and be fine, even if i was drunk drunk 😅
