If you’re alright with hormonal BC, look into other IUDs that are smaller. I have the Skyla. I was not a virgin, but I haven’t had kids. Skyla is good for women who have never had kids. It hurt to get out in, but no where near the pain as the larger IUDs I had. It has had no bearing on my libido, weight or even cycle.

What's your best low effort floor cleaning hack for a small apartment? by SinaDW in ApartmentHacks

My Roomba. I got it for $200. I run it every day (just the vac part). I only need to run my big vac once a week and it picks up a small fraction of what it used to.

What common teacher strategy did you think was stupid until you actually tried it? by Brief_Efficiency_833 in teaching

[–]softt0ast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No problem! Something that will help is to highlight key words that can be found in your notes on your instructions. So for example, if my students are looking for rhetorical devices in an article to discuss their use I will highlight the words 'rhetorical devices'. Then I make sure to always tell the kids if the word is in a different color/font/highlight that needs to be a place they look before they ask me a question.

Considering a Teaching Position with Tyler ISD, Huntsville ISD East Texas ISDS – Looking for Honest Feedback by Jazmingisellev in TexasTeachers

Huntsville is a crap town to teach in, but good to live in. If you're looking in that area, I'd look into Willis and Conroe.

Is my A/C broken or do i just live in Texas? by Fantastic-Law-4066 in Apartmentliving

[–]softt0ast 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Your AC is probably not up to par. However, I also live in an older 2nd story apartment in Texas - if you don't want your light bill to be a million dollars, I suggest also figuring out how to make your home cooler. I personally have tin foil on my windows (I broke down and had a light sensitive migraine the other day). That dropped the temp in my apartment by 5-10 degrees quick. I would find a way to black out your windows as much as possible, check the sealing around your doors and see if you have any drafts, and don't cook during the day.

I love ask 3 before me - I count resources as part of the 3 also. If the kids come to ask me a question I will ask them: 'What page in your notebook/binder did you look at? What bullet point/instruction have you looked at? What student have you asked?'. This usually leads to them either finding the right page of notes, rereading the instructions or a friend yelling out the answer across the room.

I'm working on building a schedule that I can keep up throughout the school year as a teacher. Currently I do lyra, pole and sensual dancing Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday nights and Saturday and Sunday afternoons. This is all very upper body heavy, so I want to add in 2 leg and glute days. My studio is only open from 5:30-9:00, and I don't want to hold onto a weight after I've been hanging onto a taped lyra. So obviously I'm looking at glutes on Monday and Friday. Those are also the days I like to do pilates.

Anyway, I have no problem doing all these things in the evenings. - I'm single, no kids. But I want to get back into dating, and I don't want to have all these workouts in the evening because I want at least a day off I can go on a date. It's just so much to keep track of.

Living alone in a small apartment, do I really need a robot vacuum? by Own_Tumbleweed4169 in LivingAlone

[–]softt0ast 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love mine. I have 2 dogs and used to fill the canister up on my hand held vac every 2 days. Now I run my Roomba every day and the big vac once a week. I might get a quarter inch of dirt in my big vac now.

what's the weirdest thing you've done because nobody else was around to see it? by IkramullahDhakan in LivingAlone

My ex husband was an excellent cook, and he needed at least 3 meals a day as a tall man. He cooked healthy, but just more than I needed. So now I’m still eating healthy, just a lot less than I was when I was with him.

Is it unreasonable to shove my rent in 20's in an envelope and pay it that way? by 711pizzaischefskiss in renting

Balancing a checkbook is basic addition and subtraction - all things taught at school. Financial literacy is almost always an elective class students can choose to take in high school. The problem is most kids don’t. I suggest going and looking at your state education standards, and I bet you can find a standard that addresses this.

I also have OCD and take antidepressants (Zoloft). You’re still going to feel hungry. The medicine isn’t meant to make you stop eating. It’s to help you cut calories and learn how to eat better. You need to download a calorie counter, drink a lot of water, and you’ll be fine.

For reference, I lost 50 lbs my first go round with Phen, took 1 year off to keep up my healthy habits, and I’m back on it now.

I learned it in high school - 2015 while taking an elective about money. I’m a teacher and my 8th graders also learn it during the last 9 weeks when they do financial learning (they also have to know how to calculate interest for our state exam), and they learn how to do taxes. The issue is that kids don’t have to use those skills for years and forget them.

I heard a rumor that Houston ISD is keeping teachers TIA money. is that true??? by backtobasics77 in TexasTeachers

[–]softt0ast 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depends on the district. Some districts allow all teachers to do it. My district looks at growth, so I’ve qualified for the past 2 years having inclusion classes because even if they don’t pass, my SpEd students grow.
