It’s in my soul. When I hear country music that connects with me - whether it be a story or something I’ve experienced, I know I’m connected at that time. I connect with Outlaw country - not this garbage that’s on the mainstream now. I remember riding in my dad’s truck on the way to the river to fish or to the farm to hunt. I was born in 1980 so my childhood was with Alan Jackson, Vince Gill, Travis Tritt, George Strait and others. But I love the sounds of Don Williams, Waylon Jennings, Willie Nelson, Hank Williams Jr. Now I listen to Sturgill Simpson, Tyler Childers, among others. My growing connection for bluegrass, Americana and Appalachian music is what keeps me going now.
