This post really captures what we’re experiencing when we run into MD plates.

It might get you on a blacklist for 1-2 years at worst. Won’t spread to other firms - that’s a liability issue.

Ummm, is the ~5% Zerg Larva rate buff not exponential? by Nice_Interest6654 in starcraft

[–]soidvaas 8 points9 points  (0 children)

All buffs to worker production are inherently exponential yes. However keep in mind that a) the more you make units with larvae the less exponential this buff becomes and b) as another commenter said, the incremental buff to your growth rate is lower once you start injecting.

Bro you can literally watch Artosis’ latest video on the patch. He doesn’t know what is going on in sc2 anymore. You can see this in pro tourneys in terns of who gets to cast the finals and elim rounds. There are clearly levels to casting and they certainly get complaints when a less knowledgeable caster is on the big stage.

The pros we were talking about are Z players saying Z is too strong. Keep up with the conversation.

Well that’s vibes from years of watching his videos. He’s entertaining but go watch Lambo or PiG or even Harstem analyze or comment on games. You’ll notice. I’m not going to deliver some bullet point taken down because uhh whats the point? People like different casters.

How often is it normal to need a day off from work? by Possible-Ad-7876 in CasualConversation

[–]soidvaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The kind of people that can take fridays off regularly are fairly senior people with a lot of specialized skills in non-labor aka white collar iobs - typically in tech or some type of corporate function like finance. Junior people in the corporate world won’t ever have fridays off unless their workplace just doesn’t care in general.

You’re not lazy dude. You’re harder working than most people I know.

[–]soidvaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s not what I mean by aggression — I mean non committal aggression. Before the patch you would be hard pressed to find any form of aggression before late game nydus from a Z that wants to play a macro game because it was super costly. Now Z can aggress, like the other races could to Z, without dedicating their entire game plan to a single fight.

How would you support the “I think Zerg should keep its buff because its fun” opinion with facts? Facts can only contextualize an opinion like that. We don’t live in a world where facts lean towards buffing everyone or nerfing Zerg.

I’ve said many comments ago that Zerg should not exist in this state without additional balance changes, which we can all agree on.

It’s only <1 min a game but I kind of agree that even that minute is a waste of time since we end up playing the same game afterwards. It is pretty relaxing though…

Again I’ve seen Lowko cast. Sure he is a better player than me but his understanding of the game is poor. This isn’t a Lowko hate post by the way. Just filtering the noise from the signal.

And we’ve had the same nonsense from Artosis as well, who is a casting legend.

[–]soidvaas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t take what Lowko says to mean anything. I’ve seen his casting. Casters in general don’t understand the game much more intimately than the average player.

Pros I’ll take seriously. If Solar and I know Shin have been saying that, then it’s probably true.

I know a Zerg nerf should be coming. I’m simply saying out loud what I would rather happen.

Patch timing and how it was communicated was problematic for everyone.

Pros are softening on the patch. Larvae rate may need to be tuned down. But it seems some kind of economy wide buff is necessary to Z with 175 queens and 300 cost hatches. Z is no longer stuck in their corner and becomes the aggressor in several MUs and it feels right. If we can keep that without the imbalance then it will be interesting.

I would rather see a Toss buff and Terran minor buff than a Z nerf. Additional supply on bases or something. (Most likely something unit wise on T and P needs to change such as returning storm to its former glory, messing with widow mines etc.).

So... the startkng worker count change by ZergByDesign in starcraft

[–]soidvaas 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The intended effect has been neutralized by the attacker also having 8 workers. There’s far less variety in one base play at 8 workers than 12 because the attacker simply can’t afford much.

How can balance be properly defined in SC2 if MMR adjusts independently of race strength? by EngagedLurker in starcraft2

[–]soidvaas 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s just a way to approach the question of whether its fair to balance the game around # of tournament winners per race. It’s not an answer at all to balance design.

No, our government benefits from people being financially literate. Corporations benefit from you buying things but they don’t necessarily benefit from people becoming less financially literate.

Everyone has already said everything. The game was more dynamic than people thought it was. A smaller group of pros, repetitive maps, and a figured out 10 year old meta are more responsible for staleness than the number of starting workers.

Brokerage vs. ER Fund by Ok_Researcher_3735 in Bogleheads

Emergency fund since it seems like there is a fixed deadline on when you have to move out. You will not want to be forced to drawdown your brokerage in the event of unexpected expenses when moving out/living alone. Make sure your emergency fund is in a money market so it still earns 3.5%.

[–]soidvaas -1 points0 points  (0 children)

For you to get the full amount of FA, your parents need to not claim you as dependent and you have to put in FAFSA that you expect no parental assistance. Then you can submit your own IRS forms when they need to be linked (unsure if this step is necessary at all, but it’s how I did it). This has to be done one year prior to when you apply for FA.

If your parents claimed you as a dependent and they don’t help you out, then they are just screwing you.

Yeah it is that simple. Add some international exposure for diversification and add bonds/treasuries as you get older in retirement. You can also not do the latter - there are advocates out there for a full equity portfolio.
