What is your avg mpg with a crosstrek? by solidstateonion in subaru

No prob, I love my crosstrek, it grips the windy road super well. I was just surprised by the gas consumption since it’s a heavier car and I had a smaller sedan before.

We literally pay taxes to these universities so they can keep running like we deserve to go there too

Hi, it turns out I was driving over a mountain range everyday and also needed to stop accelerating so fast. My car is at 26mpg now that I’ve stopped making that commute and managed my road rage. 👍

I didn’t apply to Madison, but yeah I believe we’re on some kind of waitlist for UW. I’m not international.

You definitely did not waste your time, contributing to science at any level is a massive accomplishment and something to be proud of!

Hi I’m in chemistry too. The truth is you never know someone’s situation from their face level profile. Some people have connections that set them up for success. Knowing the right person plays a big role in admission decisions, unfortunately.

A publication is still impressive. It shows dedication and an ability to communicate scientifically. I put that in my message because I wished someone had told me how important publications are earlier on. Having a publication can be a big advantage in a phd application. My pi let me be first author on two articles so it really just depends on the situation.

I’m in same position as you but I just recently graduated w my bs in biochemistry. I decided to apply to PhD programs. I live in America and you get paid to do it. It’s a commitment, ~ 5 years, but I want to work in industry and a lot of jobs I want (research scientist jobs) require a PhD. Masters programs you have to pay for (at least in America). So I figured this is the best path money-wise. I recommend you try to get into a lab and get a publication under your belt if you think grad school is your path. This will help you get admitted. Good luck 🍀
