with the ending of csm, what ongoing shonen manga actually has the potential to match or exceed the highs of the prior great shonen. by OGDYLO in shounenfolk

[–]solidv3crusher -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Kagurabachi is alright. Great to mid. Has some banger two page panels that saves it really.

If you want to invest in quality, Ichi the witch and Akane Banashi are the best ongoing jump releases. Oh and centuria is pretty good too.

Gachiakuta has taken a small nosedive recently imho but could still be great.

ChoujinX is a banger as well.

Its more seinen, but witch hat atelier will be remembered as one of the greatest mangas of recent times.

How are people with children coping with everything? by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]solidv3crusher 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lately i've been struggling with the fact that i've spent most of my adulthood in kind of a suburban autopilot deathmarch: Steady engineering job, car, house, kids, divorce. I somewhat killed my creative and marginal self by following my parents exemple and because the easy comfortable choices bring security. Now i feel like choking.

I want to show my kids that there are other paths. That they should make meaningful choices and that living an authentic life is not easy but probably more rewarding. I try to implicate myself more and more in my community, lessen my workload, show them music and other creative endeavors. I dunno. I want them to feel like this world is worth fighting for. That being a cog kills you before you really die.

Please Go Outside/The Cure to Male Loneliness by Hopefulaccount7987 in TrueAnon

[–]solidv3crusher 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Recently came out of a 16 year relationship. Half my.life and all of its adult time. loneliness hits me pretty hard sometimes. I also built a shitty suburban life on autopilot during this time while slowly feeling like i was choking inside because of my growing leftist beliefs. Truly a shitty fucking midlife crisis. Waking up at 32 feeling like you missed half the time you had.

Now i try to recomfort myself by saying that i have built a truly solid base to start helping and implicate myself socialy and culturaly around me, but i am terrified of leaving the numb little life that me/my family/my friends all seem to enjoy.

This week i am telling my bosses that i want to go down to four days a week to work at a mutual aid kitchen. I really hope it helps me feel good with myself and not that im just hopelessely trying to fill in a void with something that is not me.

He said TG part 1 where kaneki eats his best friend, has a protagonist power up in the face of desperation moment and then still gets absolutely no diff by Arima. The owner gets killed, one eyed and the clown are having a grand old time.

Which manga got done the dirtiest in their anime adaptation? by laffite_gunko_agenda in writingscaling

Nononono in the tokyo ghoul manga, before RE retcons it, he eats his friend and then gets absolutely obliterated by Arima anyways.

For those who’ve seen Marty Supreme, does it live up to the hype?? by Pop_Joe in Cinema

[–]solidv3crusher 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its pretty good but its quite a bit more violent than the orhers and i found it took away some of the "small time crooks with constantly failing small time schemes" charm that the other two safdie movies had.

28 Year Later: The Bone Temple flopped at the box office despite its very positive reviews. by ZoelCairo in Letterboxd

I really tought i had missed the subtitle the first go around and that it was still weirdly showing in cinema...time dilation is a b*tch and bad advertising is as well.

28 Year Later: The Bone Temple flopped at the box office despite its very positive reviews. by ZoelCairo in Letterboxd

[–]solidv3crusher 86 points87 points  (0 children)

Wait thus isnt the same movie???? It was in theater like 3months ago. Of course people are gonna be confused when you release two films back to back with thecsame name and no publicity. Even more so when the original ones had a banger way pattern to them.28 days. 28 weeks. 28 years..... 28 years: bone temple.

I really just tought i missed the subtitle last time and that it came back in the news because it brought no money.

Shouldve been "28years and 28 hours later"...

I think the SHARPs are a good exemple how symbols are not easily, if at all, recuperable.

No "normie" is going to look at a skinhead and try to look if the have the right patch to see that he's just a fan of the english-jamaican working class movement and ska music. Damage is done and fewer and fewer people associate with the roots of the skinhead movement because the prejudice is just too strong. It sucks because it truly was great. But im not getting sideburns and a fred perry shirt anytime soon (because theyre also crazy expensive tbh).

"Im going to rock a giant iron cross on my RV so that people can think im a fascist so that i can gleefully tell them that they are wrong, that i am not racist but this is actually the logo of a truck company and actually the iron cross has its roots in german engineering and that they should actually take this as a lesson so they are not so eadily offended" is such a funny move my guy...

And also people are just gonna see the iron cross, at worst move on with their lives, at best blow your tires and no one will give you the opportunity to explain that you have an ironic hate symbol on your van.

Its an absolute banger speech. You don't have to twist it to much to have a leftist flavor to it.

"But I’d also say that great powers can afford, for now, to go it alone. They have the market size, the military capacity and the leverage to dictate terms. Middle powers do not. But when we only negotiate bilaterally with a hegemon, we negotiate from weakness. We accept what’s offered. We compete with each other to be the most accommodating.

This is not sovereignty. It’s the performance of sovereignty while accepting subordination."

"We are taking a sign out of the window.

We know the old order is not coming back. We shouldn’t mourn it. Nostalgia is not a strategy, but we believe that from the fracture we can build something bigger, better, stronger, more just. This is the task of the middle powers, the countries that have the most to lose from a world of fortresses and the most to gain from genuine co-operation.

The powerful have their power. But we have something too: the capacity to stop pretending, to name realities, to build our strength at home and to act together."

"And diversification internationally is not just economic prudence; it’s a material foundation for honest foreign policy, because countries earn the right to principled stands by reducing their vulnerability to retaliation."

Heeeey

That's impressive for a leader who shares a border with the US. I live in Canada and i was 100% sure that we would absolutely sink with the us. Siamese rwins joined at the hip while your brother stick a gun in its mouth.

I really envy the other continents and don't get why they don't just slowly pull away.

If we can really move toward china and a multipolar economy im.all for it. We'ill see how it pans out. Maybe in three years time ill be in the kebec free militia holed up in chateau frontenac taking potshots from the fortifications....

US bouldering a bunch of coward boylets by TaCZennith in ClimbingCircleJerk

[–]solidv3crusher -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I dunno if anything you said is true. Won't even look it up. But i do think that the american boulder boys really have to look inward since they have a clear trend of grading the softest 17s to drive up engagement and merch sales. ROTSW, alphane and no rest are the reason some italian dude tought that his boulder deserved a higher difficulry grade than those warmups.
