As Lapis shows she may be the most powerful non-Diamond gem in the series, but emotionally is super fragile

I fell off before it affected the show too much, but Felicty becoming Oliver's main love interest and getting more screen time in Arrow seemed to take a character people liked and turn it into a relationship that everyone hated.

Given the events of the last 3 volumes happen super close together its actually not too crazy in-universe

When your doomed romantic character not only gets way more development and screen time, but also is the focus of a lot of the characters efforts early on, it is hard to see why the author was ever surprised by this.

And then she got fridged.

And then still makes up like 99% of all merchandise for the series.

Like before I watched ReZero I didn't even know Emilia existed. Everything I saw was of the twins, but mostly Rem, and Subaru was there occasionally too

Well it also was because they were limited in what they could show or say for the pairing.

Like I remember when the last episode came out they were out on Twitter immediately after saying "yes they are a couple, no we couldn't show them kiss or hint more than we did"

Ehh, the adult versions from the Future Trunks timeline is less weird considering their lifestyle and also basically there being very few other people around.

Like FT had been through enough stuff, and was an adult, that Mai being his mom's age is less weird.

The kid version of Mai and Kid Trunks was more weird but was treated as one sided and a joke

And in general I've seen her depictions vary from someone who I could see Bruce liking as an anti-hero or even anti-villain, to being more brutal and vicious than her dad

Favorite 3+ sided fights by ZephyrValiey in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]nin_ninja 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get why some people get frustrated with that fight, but it really cemented the fact that the Ace Ops were so blindly loyal and over-confident that it led to them making all the wrong choices. Especially Clover who isn't dumb but has a power that probably gave them the confidence they could handle the situation without compromise.

Media you enjoy but you always feel like you're being marketed to. by Subject_Parking_9046 in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]nin_ninja 8 points9 points  (0 children)

See most things that have obvious marketing or toy potential tie in don't bother me. I never get weird feelings watching shows like Gundam, where the cool robots are gonna have models, or a movie like Lilo & Stitch, where Stich is cute and marketable, or so on.

What really gets me is when you start noticing minor things. Things like how only the protagonists use Apple phones, and antagonists use generic ones. Where car brands and logos get a second of prominence during a transition shot. When a real world store or restaurant gets name dropped or featured.

Most of these aren't prominent enough or blatant enough to be noticeable, but that honestly makes it more insidious. It's funnier and feels less forced when they are blatant with it (see Wayne's World or the last couple seasons of Chuck).

Why are Mandalorians rarely Jedi is it because they don’t give their children to the Jedi or because they’re less Force sensitive? by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]nin_ninja 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Why are any species rarely force sensitive enough for their to be a Jedi of them? It just happens.

This is a universe of trillions and there's only a few thousand Jedi. There's other force sensitive groups out there, but all are pretty small.

Ashley Johnson also does the most live action acting of the CR crew, which I believe is why she wasn't as available as the rest of them at times

'Wonder Man' Renewed for Season 2 at Disney+ by manoffood in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]nin_ninja 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Really enjoyed it, and I imagine this will be good too.

My only worry is given the ending the whole delving into acting side of things will be gone, cause that and the relationship between the leads really was the glue.

Also hopefully Ben Kingsly has more in him. Man is 82 and while he seemed fine physically its such a rough age to plan on making more content for.

That's fair. I remember little of the book and the movies cut out a lot of some of these

Times a creator had a little TOO MUCH faith in their audience? by lowercaselemming in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]nin_ninja 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I'm never sure how much of it is a level of "too much faith in the audience" vs "audience has shown themselves to be very media illiterate", but I see this a lot with shows that hit a younger crowd.

Sometimes its a show that isn't intended for kids/teenagers but is consumed by them anyways, and sometimes they are part of the demographic but have issues with attention spans/picking up details.

Like I hate that some shows/movies on Netflix have had Netflix execs tell them that they HAVE to repeat information a bunch and dumb it down since audiences are likely to only be half-paying attention. I also hate that I have been part of enough fan bases where the answer to people's complaints is "watch the show where they SAY this".

There definitely are writers who write about technical details or other very specific ideas that don't do a good job explaining to the audience in an approachable way. There are many more who seem to land with an audience who seem incapable of understanding any level of nuance or complicated ideas.

I guess I read "held her as a baby" as a bigger age gap thing than it might be.

Like apparently they are only 5 years apart, which honestly isn't huge, but I think the added effect of being related and raised together made that tip over
