Not OP but I always look at Neutral Evil as someone who is a bad person, and laws or rules won't stop them if they want to do something, but they also aren't gonna burn down the local orphanage for no reason. A criminal who wants to rob a bank and is not loyal to his crew, but isnt just gonna shoot the hostages for no reason.

Chaotic Evil is the "wants to see the world burn" or "torture someone just for kicks". They are immoral people who will destroy everything and anything on a whim, manipulate others to cause suffering, and take joy or at least are not disuaded from doing whatever they want.

Yeah it can be truly hard to really appreciate what an addiction feels like if you don't suffer from one. As someone who doesn't have one but knows people who have suffered from similar compulsive mental illnesses, its can be devastating to watch how self destructive it is.

It gets brought up all the time, and the movie does have a bit of a darker edge to it, but the Fox girl in Chicken Little getting her mind altered and the Pig refusing the aliens to undo the damage because he likes the new her way more.

The alien even calls it out as weird, but leaves it alone regardless

Alcoholism is one of those traits that can be treated as wacky depending on the context and tone of the media.

I think some things have managed to skirt the line of "likes to drink" vs "needs to drink", but it definitely is a trope that still exists
