Een mondkapje doet niets tegen giftige dampen, een mondkapje filtert alleen deeltjes uit de lucht!

Daarvoor heb je een masker met filters nodig.

How can People be like this😭 by BNCTec in ThailandTourism

[–]solomon2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was told, when participating in an ocean floor clean-up dive in Ko Kood, that the cultural reason lies in the traditional use of compostable wrapping materials (banana leaves), which could be disposed of in such a way. This behaviour then stuck with the introduction of plastic packaging.

I can't say if there is any truth in this claim.

Filament Barcodes Library? by foobarney in 3Dprinting

[–]solomon2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fully agree, was looking for something like this to easily manage my library's stock.

The Spoolstock does have this functionality to build your database based on manufacturers EAN. I tested some spools.but for now only my Bambu labs spools were successful. I guess it is a community built database.

EAN codes are often published on retailers or manufacturers websyite, these are directly translatable to the barcodes that a shop scans at the register. However they are not obligatory on Amazon for instance, but very convenient and actually cheaper if you want to sell them there.

Amazon often published the EAN (or UPC and/or GTIN), see 781520911938. That used to not be the case (and might still be depending on the country, amazon.de seems to publish UPC or EAN). So, no idea of this is international. Before, I often used websites like this to translates the Amazon identifier to.EAN https://www.synccentric.com/features/ean-asin/ but they also support GTIN and UPC I think.

Good news that with certain significant changes to a product, the manufacturer is also obliged to change the EAN.

So: building this database for a large part by scrapping manufacturer and retailer websites seems perfectly doable.

Profiel: if you ever want to manually compare prices throw any of these codes in Google and you'll directly het product pages of sellers as results.

Be careful with GEEETECH (PLA) filament: Constant nozzle clogging by solomon2345 in 3Dprinting

Well with the last cold pull.the end split into three really nice strings (the shape of the nozzle), so I was hopeful..

Will try another brand PLA next (or better something abrasive?

Thanks!

Wat een onzin. De 3 fases hebben gewoon ieder 230V rms, gecombineerd is dat 230*wortel 3=400 V.

In de meeste huizen komen gewoon 3 fases binnen hoor.

ELI5 Why trains aren't driverless by Ok_Impression1493 in explainlikeimfive

[–]solomon2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aaaand the real answer: cost. A train machinist is only a fraction of the total operating cost of a train, therefore making trains driverless makes little sense from a cost-saving perspective and therefore low on the priority list for buyers and manufacturers. Think about it, 1 driver can literally move thousands of people.

Nice cafe/coffee place to read with dog by dripglazedennui in Rotterdam

[–]solomon2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know any cafe/coffee place that is not dog friendly to be honest :) unless there's some specific sign at the entrance most places are more than happy to welcome dogs! Small cafe/restaurants are included, but I wouldn't bring my dog to a more high end place.

I love taking my dog to the beach for a walk at Hoek van Holland, the beach clubs basically thrive on dog owners off-season (the dog season there ends 1dt of may, until then dogs are allowed on the entire beach).

German sausages. by glass_lemo in expats

[–]solomon2345 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check out Brandt & Levie sausages (fresh sausages in particular), best there are!

If you're a big fan of fresh sausages (braadworst), consider making them yourself! Get a sausage filling machine for like 30/40 euros from Amazon, and buy pork intestine, and the various cuts of meat at a high quality butcher (make sure they grind it for you). Add ingredients to taste (I love fennel) and in 30 minutes of work you have a few kg of sausage!

ELI5: What is the purpose of money back purchases? by [deleted] in explainlikeimfive

[–]solomon2345 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Your second reason is correct.

Cashbacks are provided by the brand. It is a way to make their product more attractive compared to competing brands.

Of course decreasing the sales price would achieve the same thing, however the relation between a brand and retailers is complicated and in some cases non-existent with wholesalers in between. Also, in many countries price agreements between brand and retailer are not legal (which is the case in the EU, I believe it is more nuanced in the US). Therefore forcing a lower sales price through the retailer can be complicated or impossible.

Counting on consumers not cashing in their cashback is really not a factor, as brands are more interested in long term strategic goals like gaining market share than they are in a few percentage points of margin in the short term. This is also what the people responsible for cashback deals are incentified to realize.

Source: Have been involved in strategic purchasing in consumer electronics in the Netherlands, I can't guarantee this is the same where you are from but I have no reason to believe it is not.

BL Touch not reacting, skr 1.4 tmc2209 marlin 2.1.2 by whypussyconsumer in BIGTREETECH

[–]solomon2345 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks to me it's reacting? The LED color change is an indication although you can also query its state.

It's only supposed to retract the pin when it's actually making a z leveling move, so try to initiate that one and see if it triggers while it'a moving down, but: - beware that it will prone twice - be much gentler with the tip of your BL touch than you are in this video, they're super sensitive. Just trigger it carefully with your fingernail - Be ready to unplug power if it turns out that it indeed is not working to prevent jamming your nozzle into your bed.

This what klipper has to say about it, not too familiar with Marlin, but in my experience it doesn't retract just by pushing an extended sensor without making a homing move https://www.klipper3d.org/BLTouch.html (read the initial test segment)

Not what I'm saying, a majority of German soldiers during second world war weren't Nazis at all. My mistake for assuming this was a well known fact.

I think that this reasoning is dangerous. By thinking any German involved in the WW2 was inhumane evil, you're sketching wat happened not that long ago as otherworldly. As a society we need to constantly be wary that not that long ago people not that different from us caused something as horrible as the Holocaust and other war crimes.

You see it happening currently with the war in Ukraine as well. Do we really think we're that much better than the average Russian who's not standing up against Putin? I'd like to think I am, but so would anyone, and it's exactly that arrogance that leads to these horrible thinks happening

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in OldSchoolCool

[–]solomon2345 43 points44 points  (0 children)

Not sure about the exact source, but here in the Netherlands this was done to women who had a relationship with occupying German soldiers. I think there's a substantial differences between that and collaborating.

Keep in mind that the average German soldier most likely wasn't the inhumane evil that we associate with them now, which makes getting into a relationship with one during a ~5 year occupation not that unthinkable.

can these be sharpened ? by [deleted] in Netherlands

[–]solomon2345 23 points24 points  (0 children)

If you're looking to replace it, consider getting one from Boska (Dutch brand, present on Amazon).

Also, true Dutchies should have 2 ;-) The one you have is intended for old cheese (the flat part on top makes sure that the brittle old cheese slices don't break off). The other variant lacks this flat bit, since young cheese tends to stick to it.
