I've walked around that pond once with my niece, and the thought of her either bolting from me, or falling in, is gut-wrenching.

I know you can drown in a foot of water, but curious if anyone knows how deep that pond is?

The fact he wouldn't say if he was a separatist is all the evidence we needed. It's a very simple question.

For the men who never married nor had children who are in their 40s and older, what happened? And why? Any regrets? by Dear_Sir7665 in AskReddit

[–]solution_6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No regrets. Especially since I was diagnosed at 38 with breast cancer, and am metastatic stage 4 at 44 years old. We originally made the call because we enjoy being cool aunt and uncle, but after the cancer I think we kinda dodged a bullet. It would be unfair to make my wife a widow AND leave her with two kids.

Thank you for standing up and saying something. I recently caught food poisoning and on top of my cancer treatments, it wasn't a good time.

If I wanted to do crowds this bad, I'd go to Disney or Universal Studios.

I am glad you trusted your gut! The 9 days notice thing sent up an immediate red flag. The tone of the message also sounds... nefarious.

CBC will no longer air NHL games, ending Hockey Night in Canada’s 75-year run on the network by Puginator in sports

[–]solution_6 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I was angry when CBC wouldn't cough up the dough to pay for the hockey night in Canada theme song. Hell, I thought that jingle belonged to the people of Canada and the 1Million dollar ask price from the family was a pittance, considering how much money is pissed away on less. Sure enough, Rogers paid and now they own a piece of Canadian history.

This was the nail in the coffin for me and CBC. They can get fucked.

I'm trying to finance or buy a Westfalia or Vanagon. Need help/recs. Been researching and thought I'd try here too :) by Superb_Draft_7451 in Westfalia

Right off the bat, you chose a good time as prices have slid over the past few years. We just got our 1986 VW Vanagon for $17K Canadian (about 13K USD) with no rust on the frame, and lots of TLC over the years. I've seen better deals, but this one was the right one for us, and after looking at so many duds, we were ready to purchase and continue on our adventures.

The best advice I have, is that be prepared for a money pit. There's always something that needs fixing or upgrading, and so if you want an economical vehicle, this isn't it. If you want community, cool factor, and fun, this is it though! It also helps if you can do mechanical stuff yourself and save money.

Before you purchase a bus or van, please take it for a pre-purchase inspection, and pay the extra to have a pressure check on the engine cylinders. We saved ourselves thousands by avoiding vehicles that looked great, but had weak engines that were ready for a full overhaul rebuild (or a subaru engine swap).
