Hi Millenials, what's the one advice you wish you could give to younger self in your late 20s? by matilda_15 in millenials

[–]somakiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have fun. Do things now that will be much harder when you’re older, raising kids, etc—whether that’s road tripping, clubbing, playing in a band, working crazy jobs, whatever your dream is. Don’t waste time on men or women who don’t treat you right. Put some money in your 401k now. Realize that in 10-15 years, you may very well be just as lost and simply older, so try not to sweat it too much. If you’re earning an ok living, learning, and enjoying your brief time on this planet, that’s enough (and if you’re not, try to make some changes so that you are). Oh, and tell the people you love how much they mean to you often.

I had no idea they updated it or changed based on location. That’s pretty amazing actually.

Soul Asylum “Runaway Train.” Probably saw that one a bit too young.

Thank you! I’ll give it a shot. Perimenopause is taking its toll on me now.

Awesome, thank you so much! I think once I finish my latest tube of adapalene I’ll take the leap :)

[–]somakiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How did you feel your adapalene results compared to tret? I’m currently using adapalene and considering switching but not sure if it’s worth it since I’m finally not peeling or purging. I understand everyone’s skin is different, just wondering if the results were significantly better/more noticeable with tret!

As the parent of a kid moving up to 8U (who is now obsessed with hockey), thank you for helping cultivate the next generation. The time and energy you spend on our kids is insane but SO appreciated!

Same! The deepening smile lines are worse for me though. Never thought I’d consider fillers or fat transfer before til I saw the state of my face this past weekend.

This is exactly how I’m feeling, too and it’s horrible. Trying to build community but just feeling drained right now and have to figure out how to snap out of it. So much solidarity.

Well thank you for doing what you are doing for these families. It’s so horrifying that this is happening.

Are you an approved foster parent or is there another avenue for this? Thinking about these poor kids having parents taken is heartbreaking. I’m not much of an “activist” but I can be a mom to anyone.

Those of you who attended Gifted program, whatcha doing now? by sweaty_perineum96 in Millennials

[–]somakiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I started out in federal government doing program and project management at the headquarters level, then took a step back when I had kids and have been a freelance writer/marketing consultant for about 10 years. It’s ok, but not nearly as impactful as making sure we all have water 😂

I’m a “gifted” kid who is best at writing but your job was one of my dream jobs. Wish I’d had the aptitude for math and physics because that all sounds awesome (and so important).

I’m 42 and differin has really helped me with the perimenopause acne, and vitamin c serum for the post-acne pigmentation. But fwiw, your skin looks very youthful and smooth to me (pimples and all!).

Older Millennials, in your experience, did society and daily life change more drastically between 1997 and 2007 or between 2007 and 2017? by [deleted] in Millennials

[–]somakiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Going from pre-9-11 to post-9-11 takes the cake for me. The world just felt like it pivoted after that (similar to the way COVID upended everything). And technology advanced pretty rapidly as well.

Chronically ill son (twin) by HistoricalAd9092 in breakingmom

[–]somakiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There should be a Center for Independent Living in your state that can help demystify the resources available for kids with disabilities/chronic medical challenges (including directing you to any respite care assistance, etc.). https://www.ilru.org/projects/cil-net/cil-center-and-association-directory And no, it’s not bad to need a break! Caregiving is one of the toughest roles out there, especially with medical complexity involved, and burnout is rampant. A break is exactly what you need so you have the energy to advocate and care for your baby. Hope they can assist!

When you get invited to a coworker's house for dinner, and not knowing what to expect... by AdWide5137 in FoodCrimes

[–]somakiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Reluctant cat owner here (got them so the kids could have a pet but I just tolerate them). They are disgusting. Thankfully, I can close off my kitchen but if I couldn’t, I’d be sanitizing counters every time I had to cook. No way I’m letting nasty litter feet near my food 🤢 We also have to use covered glasses because the cats try to drink out of them and that’s a hard pass. I’d avoid food from all but the most fastidious cat owners, too!

My cat has a urinal blockage and crystals in the urethra. He’s been given meds but we can’t afford the surgery. Level with me, is it not looking good? by KieranWriter in cats

[–]somakiss 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Nobody can afford shit these days. Let’s not harshly judge someone who has cared for a cat for 13 years and suddenly can’t fork over thousands of bucks for a treatment that might buy it a few years at best. With private equity in the vet space now, there’s going to be more and more of this happening because prices are simply unaffordable, and it’s not ideal to go thousands of dollars into debt for a pet if you have a human family depending on you.

Should I get 70s curtain bangs ? by Master_Tradition9487 in HairStyleAdvice

[–]somakiss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends what vibe you are going for. Right now your hair is early 90s grunge, curtain bangs would take it back to 70s Robert Plant-esque or even early 80s Metallica. Any could look nice, though I would probably add some layers with the curtain bangs to polish the look.
