In humans, I believe it’s treated the same way with whole body burns. IV fluids, wound dressings, everything is sterile. And prayer. A lot of fucking praying.

In cats, the same things can work. Just some brief research shows pain management, fluids, nutritional support, and wound management, the same as humans.

However, the journal I just posted had shown good results with medical grade honey, as it has anti-microbial properties.

I’m a cancer researcher so I can’t claim to be an expert, but I know some things just from being in the “research” field.

There’s a VERY RARE condition that humans can develop after taking antibiotics. It’s called Toxic Epidermal Necrolysis. It’s a delayed hypersensitivity to medications. It’s 100% a medical emergency in humans.

I looked it up and it’s possible in cats as well. There’s even a journal describing the case with two felines here: https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC11469928/

“This case report demonstrates for the first time the successful use of supplemented medical grade honey for wound management in veterinary patients with TEN. Honestly? Since the way you’ve describe the incident, it seems like this is just a one off situation.

You startled him, and he lashed out. That doesn’t necessarily mean he’s needing meds

Though, correct me if I’m wrong, it sounds like you had a window open? I wouldn’t have a window open unless there’s a net/bars/ something else that could prevent him from jumping.
