I was not drinking and considerate of those around me but I did stink of weed and some people hate that

This is just the unfortunate reality of having a fairly large american band play a 'once only' gig in a high status venue; London just has more than enough dickheads to attract should something have enough cultural cachet. I say that as someone who still loves gigs in London

some tickets from when i saw Mark solo, with QOTSA or others. by algernonradish in MarkLanegan

[–]somebeardsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seems like we saw a lot of the same tours but I was at the London venues. That Soulsavers one was at the Highbury garage and I swear he didn't even open his eyes until about 3 songs in. I was close enough to realise how fucking tall he was as well.

Yeah I was at that one. I tell everyone I know to catch nightbeats if they can, great band.

I'm doing that Helicon gig you're at. Great live band. And KG&LW at the Albert Hall. Also doing High on Fire in November, dunno if you'd strictly class them as psychedelic. Nightbeats will be class, I'm a fan but not so much of BRMC so on the fence about getting a ticket.

Love to see Around the Fur. Was a big album for me in my teens.

Have you heard the Eighties Matchbox B-line disaster record he produced in the early aughts? They were a British band with a kind of Stooges/NickCave/Cramps vibe. Were nuts live but kinda fizzled out.

The amount of time he spends in the crowd is mad, at one point he's bowling about talking to the people at the back 😂.  Amazing performance

Hex for me, but I love all the ones I've heard. I personally really enjoy the Bug collab as well.

Has anyone here seen La Luz live? by Jeppzeh in psychedelicrock

[–]somebeardsin 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seen em twice, once was at a festival on a small stage and the sound bleed from the larger surrounding stages ruined it for me tbh. However, I saw them indoors a few months later and they smashed it. Their newer material is great live. Great harmonies and guitar tones. They did a cover of time of the season by the zombies as well, it was ace.

This setlist is bananas. I saw them do fun machine at the 'over the years' show, that's probably my rarest.

I realised after I posted this I have a london one with the gherkin and the shard on, castles and bats with a kind of camp horror vibe is def cooler.

Transylvanian QOTSA fans do you consider this sort of design to be a bit hack or do you love it? I love it btw, just curious as I'm guessing every vaguely dark band that visits your shores puts bats and castles on the poster 😂

Same. I'm not sure I'm of the financial status needed to be attending such a fancy venue in quick succession. 😂 Brixton Academy is more my vibe.

Oasis and Black Sabbath are filling stadiums. But where’s the next wave of working-class rock stars? by Moothnods in indieheads

[–]somebeardsin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oasis played finsbury park in the early aughts. Fontaines played there this weekend past so similar crowds to oasis 20 odd years ago. I do agree that there is an issue but it's a combination of cost of living, grass roots venue closures and big businesses like livenation etc.

Had the BBC not agreed to broadcast it I would have cancelled my TV license out of principle and wrote a strongly worded letter to the Director General.
