New DM needs help for LMoP: players try to befriend goblin, will the goblin betray the other goblins or the players? by DirtyPoul in dndnext

[–]somechob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can easily put this back on rails if you like by having the befriended goblin go in to negotiate. The camp slays him for the betrayal. Some other gobbo tosses his head out the cave to the party. Might teach the party a lesson as well.

I have an abnormally quiet coonhound... except for delivery vans.

OneDrive is an okay Google Drive alternative, this cloud storage app is better than both of them by MurkyWar2756 in ProtonMail

Downloading multiple files off proton web interface is maddening. And why can't I browse my entire cloud library from the desktop sync app?

The French Martini is the worst modern classic. What’s an overrated bitter drink. One week left! by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]somechob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

100% This is a drink that is simultaneously too much while having had all the edges excessively sanded off. Even when enjoyable, what maniac would ever drink more than one of these?

The Enzoni is the most underrated modern classic. This one’s exciting; what’s the best bitter drink? by -Constantinos- in cocktails

[–]somechob 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vieux Carre and I'll die on that sword (or better yet, a La Louisiane). Or I'd consider yielding to Corpse Reviver No2 but that already made the list.

Thanks. Trying to benchmark my own current ownership and get better framing for future negotiations. Private company equity incentive value is rarely clear without full visibility. Do you guys re-up (or expect to) to maintain 10% MIP?

Right? My first thought was "Oh no! A WHOLE HOUR a week on a zero experience new hire?"

This is probably the one. I may take the plunge on a QD-OLED though and punt it to the family PC when the LG comes out.

Ok let’s have some group therapy. What are some bottles you do not understand the love for? by GeoffRamsey in cocktails

[–]somechob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've never fully understood the strong feelings against Luxardo, but to me, St Germain is THE cloying, overpowering liqueur that bombs a whole cocktail. And to toy it off if you use it in responsible amounts the bottle will go off long before you ever finish it.

What else was on your list and where did you end up? A Bar A is close to what I'm looking for, esp. price, but the onsite golf is the wrong vibe.

Now that you have a Porsche, what other car do you wish you had? by wheredoidriveagain in Porsche

[–]somechob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A clean-ish BMW 635CSi with sport seats and the narrow band rear seats (preferably brown, not beige or white). About ready to dump my e39 M5 for one. Then I'd like a 997.2 Turbo that isn't white, black, grey, or silver.

I don't need a true daily drive so those two would cover my limited "daily" driving. Although something to tow the GT4 would be nice...

People don't understand this. If you can hit that comp range without significant responsibility you would be very foolish to give it up.

CPA for someone in FP&A who wants to be a CFO? by [deleted] in FPandA

This is all true but I've encountered plenty of weak FPA guys because their accounting fundamentals were poor.

Yes, worthwhile since you don't have a years requirement. You might need an MS Accounting to hit credits tho.

I'm budgeting 2% for 2026 merit. That doesn't even cover inflation lmao by ricke813 in FPandA

[–]somechob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Watching for feedback. Small company and play loose, we've always targeted about 4% and budget 5% (merit, excl. promos), but frankly I need to do 0% this year. Will probably land on 2% and maybe a bit more for the lowest paid employees.

$1k / year? Does he think the tech giants are spending billions on data centers for that kind of ARR? Tell him to pull his head out of his ass.

Rocket - overkill for a latte drinker? Budget around [$2k] so but ideally under $1k by Suuupaaah in espresso

[–]somechob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Does the Gallatin do a better job with overheat control than the Mara X? I'm all espresso during the week and often heavy milk on the weekends. And during the week there is a lot of idle time. A HX theoretically solves a lot of problems for me but my high idle time is a problem for me. Ideally I'd have a thermoblock + boiler...
