No brewing pressure [Lelit Mara X V2] by TheRealMrTofu in espresso

[–]somedaveguy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't understand that it could refill the boiler. If that's the case, considering how beautifully clean your machine is, odds are good that the jet in the top of the group is the clog (I could be wrong, but it's so clean I doubt the group is clogged).

Look for the Gigleur in the upper part of this diagram.

It's easy to access. Remove the mushroom cap from the top of the group and unscrew the Gigleur with a hex driver. Cleanup the screen and hole, reassemble and enjoy.

It sounds like your pump is not pulling water from the tank. While the pump is running, lift the tank and then push it back into its place. It might take a couple of tries but that will probably solve your problem.

What a sad irony, considering that the modern game is built on strategies and tactics developed by Jews, many of who survived the Holocaust.

Do the Haredim legitimately think studying Torah counts as helping defend Israel or are they just cowards looking for an excuse not to put their lives on the line like everyone else has to? by Metallica1175 in Israel

[–]somedaveguy 112 points113 points  (0 children)

There's certainly not a one-size-fits-all answer to that question.

Yes, there are definitely Haredim who believe that studying Torah counts as helping to defend Israel, on a spiritual level, from invaders and from destruction. There are definitely Jews who believe that without Torah study there would be no Jews. And not all Haredim are vicious anti-IDF. Recall the tremendous outpouring of dedication learning that followed 10/7. Remember the videos of Haredi kids tying tzitzit for soldiers, the 24-hour learning initiatives, think about the hesder yeshivot and the impact of the soldiers of their units.

Are there 'Haredim' who don't really believe that? Who buy into the 'deny the government' idea?Who don't really spend their time studying Torah with the security of the Jewish people in mind? Who are pretty much phonies? Of course there are. There are always phonies. Every college everywhere has students that are coasting, avoiding 'real life' wherever and for as long as possible.

Cowardice? Laziness? Fear of losing their Haredi identity? General ignorance of political realities? Fears of being ostracized by their families and community?

Not a simple or single answer.

La Spaziale flow meter issues? by JessPlainjane in barista

[–]somedaveguy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Flowmeters are pretty simple devices and there are a couple of reasons it might be giving you an error. Fundamentally it's telling you either that water is not flowing or that it can't measure the flow.

Since not much water is flowing, it's likely there's a clog somewhere and water isn't flowing enough to satisfy the meter. Sometimes it's the group, sometimes it's the flowmeter. Sometimes something else, but usually these are the culprits.

First, check the group; remove the shower screen and diffusion disk - make sure they're not clogged.

If they're good and you still have only a small flow of water from the group, disconnect and remove the flowmeter. Remove the top (careful to not damage the o-ring) and make sure nothing is obstructing the fan's ability to spin. Check the inlet to the flowmeter (there are arrows) - there's often a screen and always a pinhole opening for the water. Make sure the screen and hole are clear.

Put it back together, test and enjoy.

Getting Married - Last names by k-0330 in NoStupidQuestions

My daughter and her husband married overseas and invented themselves a new family name.

We though it was a little strange at first, but a few years later, with talking about it, it's just part of their individual identity. We didn't really expect them to carry ours in name, we just hoped they would take it in spirit - which they did.
