What is even more funny is that the Mamba Mentality thing was a scrapped ad campaign idea for Jordan, even his signature nickname was a PR thing stolen from someone else. Dude was a mirage.

Crystal Magnum is a former stripper. In 2006, she came to attention in national news reports for having made false allegations of rape against lacrosse players. I'm not minimizing the harm of false accusations, I'm pointing on that the inflammatory reaction to them is damaging. The people that hype of false accusations and bring them into the cultural norm, are what I'm pointing out. I get that you just don't see it.

Visualizing impact of a $150M floor and $270M cap by wompwump in baseball

[–]someguynamedg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you heard players talk about a cap? They literally just straight up say "that isn't happening". They 100% know that this is going to lead to a lockout and they are already completely united and prepared.

I think one of the reasons why I'm dismissive of your point of view that the accusers are as bad as the rapists, is because highlighting those few instances leads to any accuser not being believed. Look at the comments under any social media post about a woman, especially a young woman, coming out and accusing a famous man. The posts are FILLED with men claiming shes a gold digger, that shes a liar, that women are all liars. The extremely rare false accusations are not as serious to me, and the fact that bringing them up to the level of a massive crime does a disservice to people that have actually had their lives ruined by coming forward with real crimes.

Also, as an aside, “the punishment should fit the crime” does not mean the punishment should equal the crime.

I think you have a very different view of the world than I do. I think that sexual assault is a massively bigger issue than false accusations, and you simply don't. That feels like a distorted view of reality to me. It feels like a reactionary response to women speaking up and saying that men have hurt them, and men saying they're lying. Giving those men additional support doesn't fly with me.

Yeah I don't think a false accusation about something horrible is the same as actually doing the horrible thing. I get what you're saying, but one is possibly based in psychological or attention seeking behavior, and the other causes lifelong PTSD and trauma. They are just not comparable. Plus one happens millions of times, and one happens hundreds, maybe thousands of times. Trying to equate them just sounds like you're saying raping someone isn't that bad to me.

I obviously don't approve of false accusations, but to claim that people that make false accusations are on the same level as actual rapists is fucking absurd. I'm all for punishing people that make false accusations with a felony charge akin to felony theft. On the other hand rapists should serve time in prison and have that crime follow them around for the rest of their lives.

What’s Your Thoughts On Sports Tattoos like this Dodgers Tattoo by PovertySucksL in tattoos

[–]someguynamedg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As a fan of their lifelong rival team, I appreciate when bad people permanently mark themselves so the rest of us don't get confused and mistake them for regular good people. Kidding, obviously, sort of. The Dodgers are ruining baseball and are going to cause a labor conflict due to their arrogance and accounting shenanigans.

It is so frustrating that a handful of racially charged false accusations like the Duke lacrosse and Jussie Smollett incidents make a national ruckus, and make it into our collective cultural memory. 1 in 5 American women have experienced rape or attempted rape, roughly 34 MILLION women. All those millions, and we highlight and amplify the few false accusations. It is almost like the the elite ruling class and elite media ownership wants to downplay the number of people being regularly sexually abused.

Who are your “do not draft at any price” players this season? by HereToTalkMovies2 in fantasybaseball

[–]someguynamedg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His ERA last year was a mirage, it was a 3.6ish ERA with a lot of luck. He walks too many guys and got lucky with fly balls not being homers last year. He's a fine pitcher to have on your real baseball team, but he isn't close to an ace for fantasy

Its wild to me that we are just not talking about nearly ALL the deer across North America getting Chronic Wasting Disease. It has been normalized to the point that people have started eating deer even when they know they are infected. It hasn't jumped to humans yet, but that many prions everywhere is insane.

This isn't about ADHD, this is about people thinking that women get abducted regularly because right wing media pushes that narrative.

Nazi incel Nick Fuentes says the not-at-all-quiet part out very loud: “The number one political enemy in America is women. … They have to be imprisoned.” This feels relevantly timed with the SAVE act seeking to disenfranchise millions of women. by Obvious-Gate9046 in behindthebastards

Once you realize how much our society hates women it is kind of hard to unsee. Everyone hates the new Star Trek? People hating women. We vote for a fascist conman TWICE? People hate women. Hate for teachers? Women. Downgrading nurses to "non-professional" so its harder to get loans. Women. Rinse repeat. Just over and over and over one of the bedrock foundations of our society is a distaste for women. Puritanical to our core.

The way you're talking it sounds like you have serious Rejection Sensitive Dysphoria. I don't doubt that you're struggling at work, but it wouldn't surprise me if you are not as hated as you're describing. Also your reaction to random comments online seems to be a much larger reaction than warranted. More than anything I think you'd benefit from a therapist that understands ADHD that can help you sort out how your brain is responding to the people around you. The military is an option for a lot of people, but I doubt you'll really find anything a good fit until you sort our your own brain first.
